you make me feel so damn cozy

"tell me something you've never told anyone else."

minho's moony mahogany eyes blink slowly, purposefully, dreamily, reflecting my curled-up form in his unending pupils. "i think i can secretly talk to animals. i just know they understand me, right? sooner or later, one of them will crack. just you wait and see."

my head rolls back as i laugh, open-mouthed and uncaring. "you know, my cat just told me the other day he thought you were catching on."

"hey, wait," minho protests, his full peachy lips spread in glee, "your turn, now. tell me something stupid, something ridiculous."

"i'm terrified of werewolves."

"those aren't real."

"as far as we know."

"literally no one has seen one,"

"yeah, and no one has spoken to an animal and had them speak back. besides, like, parrots or something."

"hmm," his eyes narrow a little, mischief glittering in his irresistible irises, "we may never know."

a monarch butterfly floats overhead, dappled with sunspots from the mess of leaves above us. our picnic had long since been finished, and now we were simply lazing in each others' company.

"see that butterfly?" he asks, nodding, "she said you look prettier than sunflowers in late august."

"did she, now?"

"indeed."

i snort, leaning into him. our foreheads bump, and i'm finding myself ever more lost in the sepia oceans of his gaze. for his part, his eyes seem to droop slightly.

"sleepy, my love?"

"mm," he hums, pressing his nose to mine, "only a little."

"then rest," i insist, my fingers fondling the ochre strands of his hair, "rest, darling. i'm here with you."

"always?" he murmurs, eyes finally falling shut.

"always," i breathe, lips melting against his cheek.

a robin sings nearby, a cricket chirps softly, and he breathes deeply and evenly. peace settles over us like a delicate blanket.

there's smth so intimate about simply laying with each other and sharing love words and skinship, yk?

anyway, i started writing this with absolutely no one in mind and then i wrote minho's name and it just made sense.

hope u like it even if it's a lil short. i would have written more but it is past my bedtime hehe
