My Sonic OC's

F1 AU

Really got into F1 recently and wanted to share that. (Not really in the writing mood these days, but hope at least this brings someone a smile😊 ) - Also, I don't have a specifically favourite team or driver, I just picked the following two teams based on the colours for this AU. And yes, I know that SEGA is partners with McLaren, but I just didn't incorporate it into the AU idea (still drew some other teams).

Additionally, all the names of the F1 teams used were changed a bit just because I felt like it and also just because.

Some info:

Head-canon: Sonic naturally has bangs/ head-fluff like his triplet siblings (Sonia and Manic) that is usually seen after he washes his quills post-drying. The reason his quills are slicked back are because of his super-speed, since the wind makes them that way.
In the F1 AU, they appear more since he doesn't use his speed as much and each time he takes off his helmet since his quills get messy.
He feels self-conscious each time his bangs show since he's not used to it and others almost don't recognise him. It doesn't necessarily obscure his vision during daily life, but it gets in the way when he is battling Eggman or running.

His quills also droop down after wearing a helmet and they stay like that until Sonic fixes it himself.

In this AU, he still has super-speed, but in races he wears inhibitor rings to make it fair since his powers would allow him to see everything slower and that would give him an advantage.

His number is 23 and he raced for Ferreira from the beginning which is mainly sponsored by the Freedom Fighters - won many races and even a World Championship
Switched to Silvarrow later on in his career due to "not being compatible with the team". Is doing much better at Silvarrow.

He was the youngest driver to ever enter F1.

His Uncle Chuck helped him as a mechanic and taught Sonic most of what he knows since he practically raised him.

His real name is Zephyr Easton, but he goes by Sonic.

His fireproofs and any other team-kit / clothes is made of especially soft material since the normal material makes him uncomfortable and anxious - he hates the texture and it makes him want to scratch and tear his fur off so his fireproofs are made to suit him and his preferences. Some other drivers even get jealous sometimes because of how comfortable Sonic's clothes are.

Sonic's mother, Aleena, was an F2 driver and an amazing karting driver before she had to stop after having kids. His father and uncle used to be F1 racers. His father stopped after some personal issues and a bad accident while Uncle Chuck died during a fatal accident while racing before Sonic entered F1 himself.

Sonic's race number is 23 - same number as Uncle Chuck had.

Headcanon for the AU - Sonic is both from Montrèsor (French-speaking country) and Mobotropolis (English-speaking country). His mother, Aleena, is from Montrèsor while his father, Jules is from Mobotropolis. Sonic and his triplet siblings were born in Montrèsor and lived there for 5 years before their parents divorced and Jules took Sonic, the eldest of the triplets, to Mobotropolis while Sonic and Manic stayed with Aleena. Jules started training Sonic and Sonic only really reunited with his siblings when he was 10.
Sonic's care-taker for the times Jules wasn't around was Bernadette, a hair/quill-dresser and his Uncle's wife at the time - he started to see her as his mother and Chuck like his father. Bernadette is also from Montrèsor and thus spoke to Sonic in French and she was best friends with Aleena before they got into a bad fight. Sonic still sees her as his true mum and calls her as such.

His father wanted Sonic to be an F1 driver from the moment Sonic could walk and so Sonic trained very early on. Aleena started to train Manic and Sonia too making their relationship more strained as the divorced couple saw it as a competition at that point, driving the siblings away from one another more. In the end, Manic managed to become an F2 driver and only recently got a seat in F1 which made Sonic happy and Sonic decided to go into MotoGP (motorcycles) and Sonic is proud of her as she is winning many races.
