Chapter-5 ~ Commitment

"Since recently.", he replied while giving a swath stare to Loid.

Loid asked, "Why didn't you confront me about it?"

"I was ordered not to and besides... I knew I wouldn't have been able to control myself and resist the urge to kill you.", Yuri replied.

"Yuri-", he was interrupted as soon as he was about to make another point.

"Shut up! The only reason why I haven't done anything now is because you've kept my sister very happy... but now you're going to hire her as your assistant?", he shouted.

Loid smiled and replied, "Yuri, please calm down. The only reason why I am doing this is because if she's with me all the time, I'll be able to assure her safety and security. Moreover, your sister isn't comfortable with me hiring any other spy lady to be my executive assistant... and I am more than happy to oblige with her stance. You must be quite aware that I simply can't hire anyone else for this role because obviously... no one else can be trusted with such confidential information. Yuri... I know that this must be quite infuriating... your only family member, living with a spy... but I guarantee you, I am not a bad person... nor for Ostania nor for your sister. Yes, I do, at times feel that I don't deserve her or that I shouldn't have hidden something as huge as this. Please try to understand... I'm fulfilling all of my commitments to her, as her husband and as someone who loves her the most."

Yuri walked towards him and grabbed his shoulder firmly, "I am the one who loves her the most! You may have fooled me once, Twilight, but I'm warning you... if I find any more skeletons in your closet, I won't just kill you... no, I will make your life a living hell... it will make my sister very sad for a while, but I'll help her move on from a liar like you. I don't trust you, u don't trust you a single bit... but I do trust my sister... I trust her more than I trust myself... and that's the sole reason why you're still standing here in front of me today. I'll go now... a word of any of this to my sister... and you'll see... she doesn't know about my true job and she doesn't need to. Don't take my warning for granted."

It was 9:00 PM. The Forger household was silent.
Dinner with smoothly, but quietly... the father of the Forger household was quite pre-occupied yo indulge in any conversations at the dinner table... he was waiting for dinner to be over and to have a private conversation with his wife.

"Yor, I need to tell you something... sit down first. It's a very important conversation.", he startled Yor as soon as both of them entered the bedroom after wishing Anya goodnight.

Yor sat down and gulped.

"Before getting on to the whole thing... there's something that you need to know first. Your brother, Yuri Briar, is not a diplomat. He is an agent of the SSS.... and no, this is not a joke... although he warned me not to tell you, I believe that this is something that you must know. Now, before you say anything, please let me finish......."

He explained her how Yuri was involved in the whole mission and that how he knew that Loid was a spy and about Operation Strix.

"However... your secret is safe, Yor. He doesn't know about your previous life as an assassin, thankfully. This is all that I had to say."

"I- I- can't believe what to say... my own little brother is working for the SSS... and that though for me?? I'm the reason that Yuri has been risking his life daily...?", she said.

Loid replied, "Weren't you doing the same thing for him as well?"

"But I am his elder sister... I had to do all of this to protect him and raise him... there was no one else that he could've relied on... as much as I'm proud of my Yuri... and as much as I'm touched that he loves me so much, I still can't fathom this... why is it that all of our lives have been built on lies? And the saddest part is... I can't even talk to Yuri about this... I feel so betrayed and guilty at the same time.", she replied.

Loid sat down next to her on the bed and wrapped his arms around her shoulder, "Yor... he has grown up... just to be another version of you. You were and are his role model after all. Yor, Yuri is not a dumb man, he knows what he's doing and what he is doing is for you. Despite however dangerous the job of SSS may be, Yuri knows that if he gets hurt or if something were to ever happen to him, how sad you'll be... just like you, he isn't dumb enough to just let anything happen to him, because he knows that... more than himself, it will be you who will suffer from the damage. I don't think there's anything wrong with pursuing such a life, as long as one knows their limits. Just like how we are about to do... always keeping in mind that any damage to us would impact Anya. Despite our lives having been built on lies, we all still trust each other, no matter what... and the reason behind that trust is that we know and love each other so well. Wouldn't you agree?"

Yor hugged him, "I think I can understand... but this is overwhelming... I'll need time to adjust to this..."

"I understand... Yor, I made Yuri a promise, obviously, I've made this promise to you as well, multiple times and perhaps, sometimes, have broken it... due to my lies. But, I'd just like to clear them out to you, once again. Yor Forger, I will live my life, completely committed to you, I promise to fulfill your every single need and want and I promise to protect you and keep you out of harm's way. And lastly, I promise to always stay with you.... and always keep you happy.", he finished his message with a kiss on her forehead.
