The growing resentment
--------------------------------------------
Emily walked into Grandpa Howard’s house, feeling a knot in her stomach. The house felt cold and lonely, just like him. She found Grandpa sitting in his old chair, looking weaker than she remembered.“

Hi, Grandpa,” she said softly, trying to smile as she knelt beside him.

Grandpa looked at her, and his eyes filled with tears.

“Emily… It’s so lonely here without him,” he whispered.

His words hit her hard. She felt a surge of anger toward Jack. How could he leave Grandpa like this? How could he leave without a word?

Grandpa held her hand tightly, his voice shaking. “He didn’t even say goodbye… I thought he loved me.”

Emily’s heart ached, and she struggled to hold back her own tears.

“I’m here now, Grandpa,” she whispered, trying to stay strong.

As Grandpa cried in her arms, Emily’s anger turned into deep resentment. She couldn’t forgive Jack for abandoning the man who had raised him.

“I’ll take care of you,” she promised, her voice trembling. “You won’t be alone.”But inside, she knew the hurt Jack had caused would never go away, and she didn’t know if she could ever forgive him.
