Untold Love
Scene 1: The Difficult GoodbyeEmily and Grandpa Howard are in the living room, surrounded by packed boxes. The house, once full of life, now feels strangely empty. Grandpa looks around, his eyes moist with nostalgia.
Grandpa Howard: (sighing deeply) “This house… I raised my family here. Every corner holds a memory. It’s hard to let it go.”
Emily, sensing his sadness, takes his hand and squeezes it gently.
Emily: (with a determined smile) “Don’t worry, Grandpa. I promise, one day I’ll make so much money that I’ll buy this house back for you. We’ll fill it with even more memories, just you wait!”
Grandpa Howard chuckles through his sadness, appreciating Emily’s optimism.
Grandpa Howard: (softly) “You always know how to lift my spirits, Emily. But it’s not the house that matters—it’s the people in it. As long as we’re together, that’s what counts.”
Emily nods, though she feels the weight of his words. She knows how much this house means to him and silently vows to keep her promise.
Scene 2: The Unexpected Discovery
Later, as they move boxes out of the attic, Emily stumbles upon an old, forgotten box tucked behind some dusty books. Without thinking much, she pulls it out and opens it. Inside, she finds small treasures from the past—a football keychain, a toy, and some photos. But at the bottom, she spots a sealed envelope with her name on it.Her heart skips a beat. She opens the envelope to find a letter and a necklace. The letter, written in Jack’s messy handwriting, catches her off guard.
She starts reading:Letter Excerpt:
“Dear Emily,Okay, so first off, I know this letter might be super cheesy, but hear me out. I was thinking about the future—you know, after we both become famous. Me, the greatest football player ever, and you, the genius who invents something amazing (maybe a robot that does homework? Just saying…).
Anyway, I just wanted you to know that you’re always going to be my best friend, no matter what. Even when we’re old and grumpy, we’ll still be hanging out, laughing at our inside jokes.
I got you this necklace because… well, because you’re you. It’s got our picture in it from when we were kids. I thought it’d be cool if you wore it, you know, to remind you of me whenever I’m not around (which, let’s be honest, won’t happen because we’re basically inseparable, right?).
P.S. I kind of imagine us living next door to each other when we’re older, with a secret tunnel connecting our houses so we can sneak snacks and play video games whenever we want. Sounds awesome, right?
P.P.S. Okay, fine, I’ll admit it—I like you, Emily. A lot. But don’t make it weird, okay?
Jack”
As she reads the letter, Emily can’t help but smile through her tears. The letter is so typically Jack—funny, sweet, and full of that playful charm that always made her laugh.
Scene: Trust Shattered
After reading Jack’s letter, Emily’s emotions swirl in a storm of confusion and hurt. She clutches the letter tightly, her heart aching as she re-reads his playful words.
Emily’s Thoughts:
"He said we’d be inseparable… that we’d grow old and still be best friends. But it was all just lies. He left without even saying goodbye, without thinking about what he’d leave behind.
"Anger bubbles up inside her, hot and bitter. How could Jack write something so sweet, so full of promises, and then abandon her without a word?
The letter, once a symbol of their close bond, now feels like a cruel joke. She looks at the necklace, the tiny photo of them as children smiling back at her, and for a moment,
she considers throwing it all away. But she can’t. Even though her mind tells her that everything in the letter was a lie, her heart refuses to let go.
Emily’s Thoughts:
"Maybe he didn’t mean to hurt me… maybe he didn’t know he’d leave. But that doesn’t change what he did.
"Her hands tremble as she carefully places the letter and the necklace back in the box. She knows she should be angry, she is angry, but there’s a part of her that still holds onto the memories, the love that she thought they shared.
With a heavy heart, Emily closes the box and looks around, making sure no one is watching. She quietly tucks the box into her bag, deciding to keep it hidden, away from prying eyes.
Emily’s Thoughts:
"I can’t let anyone see this. I can’t let anyone know that I still care."Even as she tries to convince herself that Jack’s words were just empty promises, a small part of her can’t help but hold onto the hope that maybe, just maybe, he meant what he said.
Scene: Moving On, But Not Letting Go
Later, as Emily helps Grandpa Howard finish packing, she keeps her emotions locked away, forcing a smile as they continue with their day. But deep inside, she knows that the box, and everything it contains, will be a secret she carries with her—one that she’s not ready to face, but can’t bear to abandon.
