The morning after the wedding, the reality of their situation set in as they shared a painfully silent breakfast. Dew was seated at the head of the table, coffee in hand, while Nani sat across from him, staring at his plate of toast and eggs, clearly regretting every decision that had led him here.

The silence was thick until Nani, desperate to break it, finally spoke up. “So… ground rules?”

Dew looked up, arching an eyebrow. “Ground rules?”

“Yes,” Nani replied, trying to sound confident. “If we’re going to survive this without killing each other, we need some rules.”

Dew leaned back, folding his arms across his chest. “Fine. Rule one: stay out of my way.”

“Gladly,” Nani shot back, rolling his eyes. “Rule two: don’t touch my things. I don’t need you rearranging my life.”

Dew’s lips curled into a smirk. “As if I’d want to touch anything that belongs to you.”

Their exchanges became a routine, a strange blend of banter and genuine annoyance that filled the empty spaces in their home. They avoided each other as much as possible, their schedules becoming perfectly aligned to ensure minimal interaction. But, like fate was playing a cruel joke, they always seemed to cross paths at the most inconvenient times.

One morning, Nani was stumbling into the kitchen, bleary-eyed and desperate for coffee. He poured himself a cup, taking a long sip before he realized Dew was standing there, watching him with a smirk.

“You know,” Dew said, his tone mockingly cheerful, “for someone so uptight, you’re surprisingly disorganized.”

Nani glanced at his messy pile of notebooks and papers on the counter, then looked back at Dew, unimpressed. “Maybe if you minded your own business, you wouldn’t have to notice.”

Dew chuckled, taking his own mug and walking away. “Just trying to help, Husband .”

Nani rolled his eyes, muttering under his breath. “Please don’t remind me.”
