Part 4: pool party and more connfessions (not love)

MAYA POV

Today was the day! The day that the all day pool party was hosted. It was hosted at a random seniors house and some 8th graders even came, I came last year so I know how to walk there.
In my bag I've got my bikini, yellow. I've also got a towel and some sun screen.

I arrive at the house and there is already 50 people there, it's only 3pm, it took me forever to walk here considering I live on the poorer side of town and this is the rich side.

"Hi" i got created by a boy at the front doors.
"Hi?" I say back as more of a question.
"My names Nathan, You wanna go get a drink" he rubs the back of his neck, then puts out a hand for me to take.
"No, thanks though" I refuse his hand, pushing it away.
"Whatever, slut" he walks away, the nerve of some guys.
I go to the bathroom and get changed into my yellow bikini with white flowers on it. I love this bikini.

I walked out and went near the pool, now there were about 150 people, last year there was 200 people so there's probably more people coming.

Out of the corner of my eye is eye I see Rowan he's talking with one of his friends but I don't walk over because I don't want to be rude.

"Hey, maya!?" I hear someone yell my name and look back, a random boy... great.
"Yeah?" I say walking over there.
"Wanna see something cool" he says getting close to the pool.
"Uh-" before I could respond he did a backflip into the pool, it was obvious he was trying to show off.
"Cool" i say as I walk away and go to the drink table.
"Wait!" He says and then kisses me. I quickly back away.
"What the hell!" I screamed at him, anger filled my voice.
"Sorry, I didn't mean too" he says trying to grab my hand but I pull it away and go to get a drink.

Now it was about 10pm, when it got crazy. I was really just drinking the whole time until some guy came up to me.

"hey beautiful" he says looking me up and down.
"Hi" i say putting my drink down.
"How's your night going?" He asks putting his drink down next to mine.
"It's alright, better now" i say and he laughs, i press his lips against mine and we start making out.

"Look at that" I hear some random boy say and I soon felt eyes on us, oh well.
"What the heck, come on" Rowan tried to take me away from him.
"Why????" I ask groaning.
"Because your wasted" he explains taking me to his car.
"Ohhhh, wanna get popcorn?" I say pointing towards a billboard.
"We're broke, so no" he says laying me down in the back west putting a sheet over me.
"I'm gonna take you too your house, ok?" He reassured me.
"K" i replied as I fell asleep.

I woke up on the couch of an unfamiliar house. This house looked like mine but it was lighter colors, my house had darker colors.

"Rowan?" I question getting up.
"Yeah" he says bringing me an Advil and some water for my headache.
"I thought you were bringing me to my house?" I say then take the Advil.
"I was but your mom was home and my parents weren't" he responded with a shrug.
"Oh yeah..." I say, I remember everything that's going on with my parents, the arguing, the divorce (that's unofficial), and not to mention my dad leaving the country.
"Where is your dad" he asked me, almost as if he knew something was up.
"He, he uh..." I stop not wanting to answer the question.

ROWAN POV

The only reason I knew about her dad was because I was in the CPS system. They wanted to take me away too, they still do...

Flashback to yesterday before the pool party at the CPS building, still Rowan's POV

I was sitting in one of the chairs that they had in front of a women's desk, the desk was labeled Tina,
sounds like a Karen's name. She comes in and sits down on the chair and takes her glasses off.

"Hello, Rowan" she says greeting me while looking through a bunch of files reading off the names.
"Lily, Kylie, Emma, Elizabeth, Clair, Eleanor, Maya" she says my friends name, no way she would be in the system, no way.

I look at the file that said Maya and there was a picture of the girl, Maya. She was goi g through the same thing as me.

"Stop snooping!" Tina slaps my hand away lightly. That brings back flashbacks of mom...

'Your worth less' she slaps me. 'You are a disappointment' she slaps me again. ' I hate you' that hit deep.

"Sorry" I take my hand away fast.

Present (still Rowan's POV)

"He abused you didn't he" i say looking at her with eyes letting her know she would be ok.
"Y-yeah, he would hit me for no reason" I say one singular tear fall from her eye as she says that but I quickly wipe it away.
"It's ok" i say pulling her into a hug.

I let her cry on my shoulder as she squeezes me tightly making my eyes water too. We stay like that for about 2 minutes until she pulls apart from me.

"Sorry" she says wiping away the last tear.
"For what?" I say looking at her, gosh she's Beautiful, I wonder if she knows that...
"For crying, I don't even know to be honest" she fidgets with her finger nails.
"Wanna go out, maybe meet my friends?" I ask her.
"Sure" she says getting up, she seems a little bit excited... which makes me happy.
