Amir's Pov
"I saw your girl yesterday. She was simply breathtaking. Too bad it's all a facade, right?"
Trey's words hung in the air like I owed him something. It had been like a black mark placed on my forehead, ever since the day it happened.
"Too bad it's all a facade."
That's all my mind was thinking about. He wasn't wrong. That's how it started, but now my feelings for her were genuine. After I said I loved her that day, I'd fallen deeper into that rabbit hole. It's gotten so much harder to try and think of it as a bet.
What we had is special to me...
But the guilt has been eating me up lately. I've been trying to think of other ways to try and make myself feel better, but I can't. I feel like a complete dick because I feel like I have been using her, and the worst part is that everyone loves her.
Since that day, my mother has been nagging me about bringing her over. I knew she probably wouldn't agree, so i never brought it up. My sister too is playing in that same field. They all see what I see. And fortunately for them I can't blame them.
But I had to put all that at the back of my mind and focus on the task at hand, today's match...
Coach has been talking about this for months. Emphasizing on just how important this actually is for us so I can't afford to fuck up. Not now...
"Everyone get your heads in the game. This game will set the tone for the rest of the season. We've trained enough, so you better play your asses off. But overall have fun. It's not everyday that we get to play in the most prestige league in the world." He said, "No pressure." As he continued speaking, our team manager came in requesting to see me.
I followed her into her office. That's when I'd seen the most angelic individual. There's something about the way she can light up any room she's in. She has this spark, this charisma that never goes missing.
She wore it...
My heart was doing every flip known to man. I couldn't stop the feeling I felt deep within. "Your girlfriend is here." She said, almost singing those words. I've never seen Clara like this, but I'd rather not ask too many questions. "I'll leave you two lovebirds alone."
She walked out, closing the doors behind her, "My beautiful girl." I said, holding my arms open. She placed her bag on the table and ran into my embrace. I wrapped my arms around her, sealing her like an envelope. I placed soft kisses on her forehead. "I missed you." She whispered, "I missed you too, my angel." I slowly pulled her away, just enough for her to face me. "You wore my jersey."
"Hush. Don't make my regret it."
"You know you love it."
"I-" She stuttered in response, I laughed to which she rolled her eyes. "Keep doing that, and there'll be serious consequences."
"Is that a threat I heard, Mr Knight?" She challenged, "No, baby, it's a promise." I placed a kiss on her lips before saying, "The two seats are marked with your names. I'll see you on the field." She frowned before smiling again, "I love you, my angel."
"I love you too, Mr Knight."She grabbed her stuff before leaving. I returned back to the rest of the team. "What was that about?" Aaron asked, "My girlfriend's here."
When I said that, they all turned to face me. They all had the same reaction.
Shock.
