"Wow, you really do eat a lot."

Eddie smiled sheepishly. "I told you."

Lana chirped as she brought the last stack of pancakes from the stove to the table. "It's no problem at all. I grew up on my grandma's farm. There were always guests around. I'm used to cooking a lot. I love having people around! So, you can come over to my apartment anytime you want!"

"Thank you. Do you cook for the Avengers too?"

She shrugged as she sat down. "I actually want to, but Steve enjoys spending time alone."

Venom growled in anger. "Let me guess where he is? In the bedroom."

Eddie started coughing on his pancake, and Lana panicked, handing him a glass of orange juice. "Hey, are you okay?"

Eddie managed to swallow and nodded. "Yes, yes. I'm fine."

"You scared me! I finally found a best friend after so long, and I thought I killed him with my pancakes!"

Eddie grinned as Lana laughed at her own joke. Her cheerfulness was definitely infectious. "You won't get rid of me that easily," he said, surprising even himself with his confidence.

Lana squeezed his hand across the table. "I'm glad to hear that!"

Venom laughed. "Hooray for the new Annie!! Dan's gonna be so jealous when he sees our new Annie!"

Eddie whispered, "I told you there's no such thing."

Lana was squinting at him. "Are you scolding yourself? I do that too! Steve makes fun of me for it! God, I thought I was the only one on earth who did that!"

As the doorbell rang, Venom whispered to Eddie, "Are you ready for some big dick energy?"

"What?!"

"I'm not talking about you, calm down."

Captain America walked in with a bouquet of flowers, effortlessly lifting Lana with one arm and kissing her. Eddie and Venom stared at him, jaws dropping.

"Eddie!"

"What?"

"I'm scared. You can't compete with that kind of masculine energy. It's best we take your little thingy and get out of here."

"It's not little! And what happened to 'we'?"

"My thingy is big."

"Venom!"

When Lana finally managed to push Steve away with her hands, she was breathless. "S...teve. I have a guest."

Steve chuckled as he gently set the dizzy Lana down. "I didn't notice."

Eddie muttered, "Yeah, we got that."

Steve walked over to Eddie, offering his hand. "Steve Rogers."

Eddie shook his hand. "Eddie Brock, and I think all of America already knows you," he said with a smile.

Venom grumbled, "Your fake smile is really good."

"How did you two meet?" Steve asked as he tied an apron around his waist, preparing to cook pancakes for himself. Lana was so used to his control freak behavior that she didn't even insist anymore.

"I am the next door neighbour. Lana invited me over. We met yesterday."

Steve nodded. "It's great to see Lana making friends. I'm with the Avengers every day, and I thought I was leaving her a bit lonely."
