Once Daniel got home he started to play his guitar as a way to get his anger out. Apparently too aggressively because Tori walked in quietly.
"You're very loud." She says bluntly, moving to sit on the bed with him.
"Sorry," He says quietly and he places his guitar to the side.
"Are you angry at anything in particular? Or did you finally decide to have a rebellious phase?" Tori asks, looking in his eyes. "Did something happen?"
"Did you hear about Harry Greenes fight with Nick and Tao? Both are my fault by the way." Daniel says, looking down to his lap.
"I'm like 95% sure they were Harry's fault, and I wasn't even there." Tori says, trying to sway his view.
"Well before I met Nick I was kinda going out with this other guy. I liked him, but he made me feel like I was ruining his life. Like he didn't even want me to exist. Now Nicks is losing all his friends and he's getting into fights because of me. I just feel like maybe I do ruin people's lives. It would be better if I didn't exist." Daniel says as tears start to flood his eyes.
Tori pulls him into a hug "You don't ruin my life." She squeezes him tightly. "I could make us pizza, would that help?"
"I'm not really hungry... I'll eat later." Daniel says in an obvious lie.
The next day school went by as slow as possible. It was sports day soon so everyone was trying to figure out what they were going to be in. Daniel realized he'd have to be in the rugby game. He decided to see Coach Singh and quit rugby because he simply couldn't do it anymore.
Daniel went to see the one of the only people he could fully trust right now- Mr.Ajayi. He walked into his classroom nervous as he called for his attention.
"Daniel? There aren't any sports day events going on in the art block. You better not be here to ask to hide in here." He saw the look on his face and sighed deeply. "You've been coming in for lunch a lot recently. Are we having a repeat of last year? Isolating yourself? Not talking to anyone?"
"No." Daniel says not even being able to lie confidently.
"Alright. I'm not going to make you go because I'm a nice teacher. When I was in school I thought hiding was easier. But sometimes loneliness is just bad. Don't let anyone make you disappear Daniel." Mr.Ajayi says in his teacher's voice.
The words say heavy with Daniel he knew he would carry those for years. With that Daniel made his way out of the school with a determined look. He saw Coach Singh giving Tao a bib to run the dash. He quickly walked up to Tao telling him to switch bibs with him.
"What why?" Tao said, confused why Daniel was being nice even though Tao had been a jerk.
"You hate running. I'll run it for you." Daniel explained as he took Taos bib.
Tao thanks him but Daniel just says he is sorry before walking off to the starting line. Once he gets to the line he sees Ben right next to him.
"Are you obsessed with me or something?" Ben says with a smug smile as he stretches.
Daniel ignores him and waits for the whistle. Once the whistle blows Daniel takes off. He lets all his worries float away as he races towards the end. The wind flows through his hair and pushes against his face.
He reaches the end seconds before everyone else. As Ben crosses he falls to the floor panting heavily.
Daniel walks over standing above him "You don't get an opinion on anything I do." He says confidently.
"Do you want me to tell people about you and Nick?" Ben says resorting to blackmail to get his power back.
"Do you want me to tell people about me and you?" Daniel says stealing the power from him. "But I wouldn't do that because I'm a good person. I understand you're figuring yourself out, but you don't get to make me feel like crap anymore. Just because you hate yourself. So leave me alone." Daniel rants before storming away.
Daniel makes his way over to Tao as they both try to apologize. They talk about how they were both in the wrong and then planned their next hang out. Daniel watched as everyone else did their sports as he cheered on his friends.
Finally it was time for the famous rugby match. Daniel watches as Nick plays, almost regretting quitting the team. As he continued to watch Nick randomly stopped playing. He walked off the field and towards Daniel. He grabbed his hand and pulled him through the crowd.
"I don't want to break up. I know people have hurt you. And you feel like I'd be better without you. But I need you to know that my life is way better with you in it. And I'll keep saying that until you believe me. I don't care about getting into fights or pissing off my mates. It's all worth it to be with you. You are the kindest, most thoughtful and caring person in the world. If you really want to break up I'll respect that, but I want us to be together. You're my favorite person. I need you to believe me." Nick rants as he holds Daniel's hands looking in his eyes.
"I believe you Nick." Daniel says with a smile before leaning in.
Nick kisses him sweetly no matter who might see. "We are in the corridor." Daniel says with a laugh.
"Who cares. Are you free Sunday?" Nick says with a sweet smile.
"Yeah why?" Daniel asks but Nick refuses to tell him.
Finally Sunday came and Daniel woke up extra early to make sure he looked okay. Nick picked him up from his house but still wouldn't tell him where they're going.
As they get on the bus Daniel realizes that he's never been out this way before. Nick tells him they are almost there causing Daniel to smile happily.
As they walk together Nick covers Daniel's eyes until he hears seagulls giving away where they are. Nick lifts his hands off his eyes showing the beautiful beach. They ran around the beach together. They got in the photo booth together taking pictures they could keep forever.
Finally they take their towels and lay together by the water. Nick decides to break
the silence. "I was thinking... what if I came out?" Nick says nervously looking at Daniel."Do you really want to?" Daniel says as he sits up looking at Nick.
"I really want to. I know I've been pretty confused but I'm definitely bisexual. I don't want to sneak around being platonic BFFs. I'm not saying I'm ready for a public announcement yet. I want to tell people who matter. And I want you to be able to tell people too." Nick rants slightly "I just like you so much. I like Daniel Spring in a romantic way, not just a friend way!" Nick yells as he runs towards the water with his arms out.
"I never thought this would happen to me." Daniel confesses with a bright smile on his face. "Does this mean we are boyfriends?" He asks nervously.
"Was that not already established the last ten times we made out?" Nick says jokingly.
"I don't know, I guess we never confirmed it." Daniel says with a slight smirk.
Nick scooped him off of his towel and carried him towards the water. "You're my boyfriend! I'm your boyfriend! We're boyfriends!" He yells as he holds Daniel above the water.
"Don't you dare drop me!" Daniel says as he clings onto Nick's neck.
"I won't, I won't." He says as he pretends to drop him into the water.
Once their date was over Daniel couldn't get the smile off his face. He finally had a boyfriend that cared for him and liked being around him. As he plays his piano his mind is only focused on one thing. His wonderful boyfriend.
