The sun's rays illuminated the living room, the wallpaper shining under the natural light. The velvet of the sofa was comfortable against the Angel's skin. The blonde twisted under the thin sheet and tried to snuggle into the light blanket, now warm from her body heat. She felt as if she had slept for an eternity and had made up for a lifetime's worth of rest. She sighed contentedly and finally opened her eyes, one at a time, the morning rays blinding her completely. Even a type 2 demon's hypnosis was probably less painful! Her hands flew to her face, covering her closed eyelids. Waking up like this was impossible—she was definitely in for a headache!

However, the clinking sound of dishes startled the detective. As far as she knew, she didn't live with anyone and hadn't hired a housekeeper. So, no one was supposed to be in her home. She quickly sat up, the blanket pooling onto her thighs. Her long blond hair was dishevelled, and her large hazel eyes were swollen with fatigue. Her gaze quickly landed on Lada. Her breath caught at the sight. Lada, in pyjamas, making pancakes. Earn thought she felt her heart melt. Was this a dream? Maybe she had died in her sleep?

Lada noticed the detective was awake and raised her eyebrows, surprised to see her finally conscious. She watched the blonde rub her eyes and blink several times. She was clearly disoriented.

"Lada," Earn whispered for the second time since they had met.

Tawan shifted uncomfortably and frowned. There was clearly a story behind this Lada for the blonde to address her like that twice.

"Detective Amarin, you're finally awake," the brunette tried, having left her already-cooked pancake to focus entirely on the blonde, who had passed out in her car the previous night.

The title brought Earn back down to earth. A deep discomfort washed over her as she realized, firstly, that she had called Tawan "Lada"... again. Then, secondly, her heart shattered into a million pieces, having believed for a few seconds that this domestic scene with Lada was real. She would have done anything to stay in that dream, but reality had called her back. Her eyes, sparkling in the first few seconds of her awakening, fell to her covered legs as a persistent embarrassment settled in the pit of her stomach.

Sensing the detective's mood shift completely, Tawan decided to sit beside her on the sofa.

It was obvious, upon taking a moment to reflect, that Earn was indeed at Tawan's, her apartment perfectly tidy. She didn't dare meet the human's gaze, embarrassed and confused. How had she ended up here? And... OH. MY. GOD! How had she ended up in these clothes? Her professional detective uniform had been replaced by a large brown t-shirt with a mountain on the front and a pair of black shorts. And Earn was willing to bet her life on it that these clothes weren't hers.

This meant that Tawan had changed her... This left a bitter taste in the Angel's mouth. The room, which had felt cozy during their first meeting, now seemed to be closing in on the two women.

"What happened?" Earn asked, her memory playing tricks on her.

Tawan licked her lips and adjusted her position beside the detective. Their thighs were touching, if one overlooked the thin blanket covering the blonde's lower body. Both women could feel each other's body heat against their own, but they chose not to make a big deal of it, even though, on both sides, their minds struggled to avoid returning to the fact.

"Do you really remember nothing?" Tawan was surprised, but also very troubled by how things had turned out.

Earn, who found it hard to bear the eye contact between herself and the human, summoned her courage and locked her gaze onto the brunette's. Tawan was surprised to glimpse a certain vulnerability in the detective's gentle eyes.
