Bags, bets and butterscotch
ESHAANAs we walked together, I found it so entertaining to see her struggling with two bags. It was so cute to watch her honestly.
Cu-cute? What is wrong with you Eshaan? You're finding her cute when she's doing these weird things? I think I did not sleep properly last night. (Lightly hits his head)Adira was walking slowly, so I pushed her behind her back saying " Jaldi chal, aaj hi pochna hai" ( Move quicker, we have to reach sooner.)
We were finished with all our classes by 5 pm. We are in the same class but our seating arrangement is different. Adira sits on the third bench on the right whereas I sit on the fifth beach on the left. So we barely get to talk when we're in school. But still our classmates somehow know that we're next door neighbours and friends since childhood.Adira came near me after we were done with classes and extended her hand towards me. I was literally confused about what she meant by that before I could extend my hand too, She asked me for my bag.
Seriously what was I even thinking? Holding her hand? I shook my head so that my mind could be purified. Now, I actually felt pitiful for her because I saw her struggling with two bags in the morning, I didn't want her to lift this heavy bag again.
But the question arises how do I say it in such a way so that it doesn't seem that I'm being nice?
So I just went with whatever came to my mind," Adira, let it be, I will carry my bag. I don't want you to dirty my bag. What if you couldn't handle the weight and dropped it on the road? My bag is really precious to me.She replied annoyingly, "I held it in the morning too, at that time this thought didn't cross your mind?"
"Whatever, just give it to me now, I am just being nice here "
Adira replied, " yeah take it already, it's so heavy "
They both took their own bags and started heading towards their homes. It was almost a 7-8 minutes walk from home to school and vice versa.
While walking, Adira stopped. It was nothing new for me, She used to do this all the time.
I asked her, "What now?" in an irritated tone
Adira answered excitedly, " Guess what? I have a coupon code (voucher) for icecreams, that means we can have 2 ice creams for the price of one, Let's go Eshaan."
"Adira, it's already late now, We have to reach home and do assignments too"
"Being five minutes late won't even matter, come on now, don't make me ask you again."
Before I could say anything, Adira stretched out her hand and held my hand and started pulling me forward.
I started thinking why is she holding my hand? What the hell is wrong with me? We used to hold it as kids, calm down Eshaan, calm down.
We reached the store and finally Adira let go of my hand. I was just processing all this and Adira didn't seem to be affected by it.
She bought me the butterscotch ice-cream and got herself a chocolate icecream . Since we are childhood friends, we know almost everything about each other. It's good but also embarrassing sometimes.
The good thing is that I have someone who knows almost everything about me but that includes all the embarrassing stuff too, so that's the bad part. We know each other's favourite colour to favourite icecream to everything. Almost everything. We finished our ice cream and soon reached home. We had to meet up again at night to work on assignments. We usually work together on assignments.
Our terraces are kinda connected so we can just go to each other's room by the terrace too.
We rarely use the gate to go to each other's homes.
