"Are you sure you don't want to come over and hibernate together?" She asked again, giving me this puppy pouting face. "You almost never come over! And you never even invite me to your place." She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "The amount of disrespect..."

I chuckled. "It's not a big deal, Jess. My home is just a shitty shack. You'd hate it there. Plus, my parent's are a bunch of weirdos--like, strict weirdos."

"Still!" She exclaimed. She suddenly brought her face close, her eyes widening like she saw the reaper. "I'm in need of your presence. You're the lifeline that keeps me going." She grasped my shoulders, shaking me. "You HAVE to spend at least one night. It's the friendship law!"

I rolled my eyes, shoving her face away. "Look here, drama queen-"

"Nope! I won't take no for an answer." She sighed, a hand to her chin as she began to think. "I didn't think I would have to do this, but there's no other choice..." She turned on her phone, and after a few taps, she showed me the screen.

My eyes widened. "You wouldn't dare..." On the screen was a screenshot of one of our conversations about me babbling about this one guy I have a huge crush on.

She smirked at me evilly. "Oh? Want to test me? I love challenges~"

"It would be a complete disaster if the entire university saw my stupid crush!" I exclaimed.

She scoffed, waving it off. "Oh, please. There's not even that many people in our small school. Besides, near every girl at our school has a crush on him. They see this, then they'll probably think: 'Oh, her, too?'"

But she knew that wasn't the part I was worried about. I was worried about HIM seeing it; I could care less what the others would say. "Then PROMISE me. Saturday night, you're coming over my house and we're going to have total geek out weekend! Think about! Anime, fan fiction, DIRTY fan fictions we can read, role-playing-- OOOH! I actually got a new shipment of cloths, so we can even try and cosplay!"

Her eyes glittered over with such excitement... This was an act of friendship long over due. After all, we've known each other since middle school. "I'll try and ask my dad-"

I was swung in the air by a hug. "YAYAYYAYAYAAY!~" She screamed in my ears.

My eyes began to swirl. "But I make no promises! I don't know if he'll even say yes after all the other times."

"Hmph. Who knows, maybe he'll finally see that you're GROWING UP. He can't cage you any more--you're a college girl for Christ's sake." She said, placing her hands on her hips.

I rubbed the back of my neck nervously. "Yeah, we'll see. I'll text you what he says, alright?"

She looked at me like a happy cat, nodding. "Nya!~ See you later." We came upon the split of the road that took us to our homes. She went left and I went right.

When I was sure she was out of ear shot... "God, how am I going to talk myself out of this one."

Following the path through the woods, I could sense someone following me. I feigned ignorance, casually slipping off my wireless headphones.

I looked forward, taking in the familiar trees, bushes, and animals.

Snap!

I swung on my heel, holding my arms in front of my upper body. A foot planted itself on my arms, causing me to wince; that would bruise, later. I was knocked off of my feet and felt my back hit the ground. A body straddled me, and a knife was at my throat in seconds.
