Outside UA's gates, Ren lay sprawled on the ground, dirt clinging to his clothes after being unceremoniously thrown out by Aizawa and All Might. He winced, looking up at the two teachers who, without a second glance, turned back to the dorms. Defeated but undeterred, Ren slowly rose, brushing the dirt from his clothes, his eyes already searching for another way inside.

"Ren." The voice crackled through his earpiece, but he ignored it, a frustrated scowl forming on his face as he circled the perimeter. "Ren!" The voice barked louder, snapping him out of his single-minded focus.

"What?" he growled, pausing reluctantly.

"Boss wants you back at the base, now. You're already in trouble after that stunt," the voice warned.

Ren hesitated, his jaw tightening. In his fixation on getting close to Y/n, he'd forgotten the mission that had brought him here. His pulse quickened as he remembered sneaking into her room, lingering among her things, breathing in the faint traces of her presence. She had to know how much he cared, even if she didn't see it yet.

Back at the League of Villains' base, Ren nervously wiped his sweaty palms on his pants as he settled onto a stool by the bar. Across from him, Dabi, Toga, and Kurogiri watched with varying degrees of annoyance.

"You're such an idiot," Dabi muttered, shaking his head.

Ren barely opened his mouth to retort when Shigaraki stormed in, his expression thunderous. Ren felt a sharp spike of fear as Shigaraki's piercing gaze landed on him.

"You idiot," Shigaraki snarled, scratching at his neck in irritation. "You had one job, and that was to not get caught!" He slammed his hands onto the bar, his voice thick with fury.

But Ren barely registered the reprimand. His mind drifted back to her—her room, her scent, the way his fingers had brushed the edges of her belongings. He'd been so close, and the thought of her was consuming. To him, the mission had always been secondary; she was all that mattered. He knew they couldn't understand.

Shigaraki's glare was withering as he stood over Ren, who was slumped at the bar, still shaken from the close call at UA. "You had one job, Ren," Shigaraki growled, his voice cold and cutting. "Sneak in, get information on her—not get caught by her teachers and put us all at risk."

Ren barely flinched, his eyes drifting as he thought of Y/n. She was his, whether she saw it or not, and every time he thought of her with someone else—living her life as if he'd never mattered—it tore him apart. Gathering information was just an excuse to be near her again, to understand the parts of her life she kept hidden from him. He knew he could make her understand, make her see that they were meant to be.

"You're such a moron," Dabi sneered, watching Ren's distracted expression. "You're supposed to be spying, not fantasizing. Thought you'd moved on from that high school crush by now."

"It's not a crush," Ren muttered, his voice laced with a strange intensity. "Y/n and I... we had something real. She just... needs to remember that."

Toga's gaze flickered with intrigue as she leaned in closer. "You think sneaking into her room is going to win her back?" she teased, smirking. "What's next, writing her a love letter in the middle of her class?"

But Ren was undeterred. They didn't understand. Y/n was special, different from the rest of them, from anyone he'd ever known. She was the only one who'd made him feel seen, even if things had ended badly. She was the only one who could make him feel complete again.

Shigaraki watched him, jaw clenched with irritation. "Listen carefully," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "You're lucky I'm giving you one last shot at this. You're going back to UA, but you will stick to the mission. Gather information on her routines, her weaknesses—anything we can use."

Ren nodded, but in his mind, he was already crafting his own version of the plan. He would do what Shigaraki asked, but his true goal was more than information. He needed her back in his life, to show her that no one else could love her like he did.

The next time he got close to Y/n, he wouldn't let her slip away so easily.

Over the next few days, Ren shadowed Y/n from a distance, his heart racing each time he caught sight of her. He'd watch her leave the dorms in the morning, follow her as she walked with her friends, hiding in the shadows just close enough to feel her presence. Every time she laughed or smiled, a strange warmth filled his chest, and he found himself blushing like he had back when they first started dating. She was radiant, more captivating than ever, and each stolen glance only deepened his obsession.

He memorized her routines, her favorite spots around campus, the way she tilted her head when she was lost in thought. He would catch glimpses of her during training sessions, watching as she practiced her moves, determined and strong. He felt a pang of longing, remembering how it used to feel to be the one standing beside her. She had been his once, and he was determined to make her his again.

But one afternoon, as he lurked near the training grounds, Ren's heart dropped when he saw her with Katsuki Bakugo. They were sparring, their movements fluid and intense, and Bakugo's eyes never left her as they exchanged blows. Ren's jaw clenched as he watched Bakugo smirk at her, the way she grinned back, the easy camaraderie they seemed to share. It made his blood boil.

He felt an ugly twist of jealousy as he watched Bakugo pull her to her feet after a mock fight, his hand lingering just a bit too long. Ren's mind raced with resentment. What did she see in him? Bakugo didn't know her like Ren did, couldn't understand her complexities, her quirks. He wanted to march over and pull her away, to remind her who she belonged with. But instead, he stayed hidden, his fists clenched, watching every moment between them with simmering jealousy.

The more he saw her with Bakugo, the more his obsession darkened. He convinced himself that she was simply confused, that she'd forgotten what they had. All he needed was one chance, one moment alone to remind her of everything they shared, of the connection she couldn't deny. But for now, he would watch and wait, planning his next move, determined to win her back and erase Bakugo from her life for good.
