The first thing Jungkook noticed as he gained consciousness, was the strong earthy smell of dust and dirt, of woodchips, with a mix of a manure. He had been in the royal stable enough and more times to recognise that smell of hay and horse. He couldn't see, of course, because his eyes were covered with the black cloth. His hands were tied behind his back as well. His feet were free but without having his sight to guide him, Jungkook didn't think it would be wise fumbling around in a horse stable.

He sat up from the damp floor he was laying on, and leaned back on the hard vertical surface he felt with his fingers. His head was hurting, probably due to the powder he was made to sniff, which was the last thing Jungkook remembered doing.

He let his mind wander to the events prior leading up to that, for he didn't have the chance to calmly think about it since everything happened so fast.

Flashback..

Jungkook was laying down in his room. It had been about an hour since Taehyung left and Jungkook didn't feel like interacting with Hara or Seolhee. Whenever he was at home without Taehyung, Jungkook tended to spend his time alone, inside their room, for neither Hara nor Seolhee were exactly pleasant company.

He was thinking about something random, when he heard the sounds of horses. Jungkook knew it wasn't Taehyung, for the elder didn't have a horse, and there would be at least a few more hours before Taehyung would return. But as the horses clearly stopped at the house, Jungkook went out to check.

It was the man he saw at the market, the nobleman who wanted to gather information about Jungkook's whereabouts. As soon as Jungkook saw the man, he tried to take a step back towards the room, but Hara's voice stopped him.

“There he is!” Hara scoffed. “Good for nothing road scum.”

The man, Lee Yeosung, gave a small smile to Jungkook, before turning to look at Hara. “Not that it would make any difference, but he's not really someone you can insult this way.”

Hara looked a little confused, as she blinked her eyes a few times like a fool. “W-what do you mean, Young master Lee?”

“Nothing.” Lee Yeosung waved his hand dismissively. “It wouldn't matter now anyway.”

He then walked towards Jungkook, stood in front of him and gave a small bow from his head. “It's a pleasure finally meeting you. If your highness would be so kind as to follow me, that would make it easier on everyone.”

Y-your h-highness?” Seolhee's voice sounded barely audible. “W-what?”

“I was just teasing him.” Yeosung turned towards the girl and gave a small smile. “Dahyunie told me that he likes to behave like a prince, so I thought I'd address him as such. Isn't it funny?”

Hara and Seolhee laughed a bit. It was sort of an out of place, nervous laugh, a one that didn't seem genuine but looked forced by Yeosung's gaze.

Jungkook disregarded all that and kept his focus only on the man in front of him. “And if I didn't?”

Yeosung's smile changed into a sinister one, before he leaned forward a bit and whispered so that only Jungkook could hear. “Then I suppose I'd just have to drag you from here by force. And since I'd rather not have any witnesses to such an act, I might just have to get rid of the two women in this house. Wouldn't their cold and lifeless bodies be a nice surprise for your lover to come home to? Hmm..?”

Jungkook knew when he was beaten. As much as he dislikes Hara and Seolhee, he never could wish any harm upon them. Despite the way they treated him, they are still Taehyung's family.

“Okay.” Jungkook replied with a steady voice, not portraying the uneasiness in his heart. “I won't make trouble.”

After Yeosung led Jungkook outside, he noticed that the former was not alone. There was a carriage as well as about 10 people waiting outside the house. Jungkook quickly got in, followed by Yeosung.
