"Hold on tight," Seyara advised in a low voice, gripping the bus handle to steady herself.
They were currently on a local express bus. It was going too fast, making them sway with every sharp turn. Seyara was already used to it, but she was worried about Ayurmin since it was his first time riding on a bus. The worst part was that the bus was too crowded. She couldn't even look at him properly because they were surrounded by so many people.
"I know. I'm not a baby," he whispered back almost instantly, as if he had been waiting for her to say something all this time. His irritated voice clearly showed how annoyed and upset he was to be there.
Seyara gulped as a pang of guilt washed over her. "I'm sorry, okay? I didn't have another choice. I have a car, but I don't know how to drive. My chauffeur is on holiday. Besides, my brother froze my bank account..."
She spent a lot of money on her best friend's birthday last month, which led her brother to disable her bank account. She was angry, but she could do nothing against it since it was originally his money. Now she was left with a small amount of savings. She thought taking a bus would save her from spending half of it, as taking a taxi would be too expensive. She believed Ayurmin would be okay with her decision. Apparently, she was wrong.
"Shut up!" he snapped, earning a few glances from the people around them.
"Huh?" Seyara frowned. "What's wrong?" She also became upset because he humiliated her in front of others by yelling at her to shut up when she did nothing wrong.
"I don't want to know," Ayurmin snorted coldly. "You have no idea what I'm feeling right now. These sweaty people. Yuck! Besides, look at these commoners occupying seats. They don't know they are disrespecting a crown prince. If my father were here, he would have already executed them for dishonoring me like this." He sighed.
'So spoiled,' Seyara thought in her mind, secretly rolling her eyes.
After a brief moment of silence, Ayurmin added calmly, "Actually, I feel like puking."
Seyara opened her mouth to ridicule him but when her eyes fell on his pale face, she realized that he was being serious. Panicking, she blurted out, "What? Don't throw up, please. Wait, wait. I'll search for a seat for you."
Before he could say something, she swept through the crowd, disappearing.
There was a middle-aged lady sitting in the middle row. She looked kind and sweet. The moment their eyes met, she smiled warmly at Seyara. Taking a deep breath, Seyara approached her and politely asked for her seat.
"My friend, he..." Her voice wavered.
"I understand, darling. No need to explain more." The lady stood up from her seat and stepped aside.
Seyara smiled gratefully. "Thank you so much, auntie!"
She brought Ayurmin to that seat and made him sit there. Seeing that, the person in the window seat offered it to Seyara, saying that his stop was approaching. Seyara thanked him as well before sitting beside Ayurmin.
After a short amount of silence, she gently asked, "Feeling better?"
Ayurmin hummed softly. "My head is spinning a little," he mumbled in a soft voice.
"Close your eyes," she suggested. "And you can put your head on my shoulder. It'll make you feel more comfortable."
Ayurmin did as she said. As he did so, he realized she was correct. Although her shoulder wasn't as soft as his pillow, it really made him feel at ease. He closed his eyes and inhaled her scent. She smelled like a red rose. His mother had a red rose garden. He sighed as his parents' faces came to his mind. He didn't know when he could see them again. It made him feel lonely.
