"What's that sound?" Aunt Wasumi blurted out, her voice dripping with curiosity.
Seyara swallowed nervously, feeling doomed as her mind went blank. Aunt Wasumi observed her carefully, repeating the same question. Seyara realized she needed to lie to escape the looming disaster.
"It's... It's my brother. I think I'll go check on him now to see what's going on," she said quickly, and without waiting for Aunt Wasumi to respond, she hurriedly closed the door, locking it, and rushed up the stairs. She could feel her face burning with anger, practically fuming as she flung her closet door open.
"I'm going to kill..." Before she could finish, Ayurmin pounced on her, catching her off guard as they both tumbled onto the floor.
With eyes wide as marbles, Seyara stared incredulously at the boy lying on top of her, her whole body frozen in shock. She couldn't move or speak, too stunned to react.
"I..." Ayurmin looked back at the closet and then at the girl beneath him. When their eyes met, his voice died, and his mind blacked out, as though he’d forgotten what he was doing.
Seyara struggled to catch her breath. After a few seconds, she managed to whisper, "Gh-get off me! C-can't breathe!"
"Oh, sorry!" Ayurmin quickly stood up and helped her to her feet.
Once she regained her balance, Seyara smacked him on the back, hard enough to make him wince. "You idiot!"
"Hey, why did you hit me?"
"Why?" She glared at him with a murderous look in her eyes. "You almost ruined everything! I don’t even know if Aunt Wasumi believed my lie. I told you not to make a sound, but you..."
"There was a gecko in your closet! It jumped on my arm!"
"So what? You're acting like a baby! Aren't you supposed to be a man?" Seyara scoffed, finding it hard to believe how delicate this 'prince' could be. He was worse than some girls!
Ayurmin pressed his lips together, feeling insulted. "I got startled!" he insisted, slightly pursing his lips.
"Why are you pouting like a girl?" Another accusation.
Ayurmin couldn’t take it anymore. "Can you just shut up?" he roared. "I'm sick of you!"
"Same!" Seyara hissed. "You think I want to be here with you? You’re so annoying! A pain in my neck!"
"Likewise." Ayurmin shot her a glare. "I don’t know how I ended up here, but I don’t want to spend another second with you!"
"Then leave! What's stopping you?" Seyara rolled her eyes, looking thoroughly unimpressed.
Ayurmin was about to argue further when his stomach growled, filling the silence.
Seyara raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at her lips. "Dear high and mighty prince, are you... hungry?"
Ayurmin frowned, clearly displeased with her sarcastic tone. However, he had no choice but to admit it. He was used to meals appearing before he even felt hunger, but things were different now. "Yes. Since I am a guest in your house, I’d hope you’d at least invite me for breakfast," he said patiently and... gently?! What happened to his pride?
Seyara blinked, momentarily speechless at his sudden change in attitude.
Ayurmin chuckled at her expression. "You look stupid... By the way, I still don’t know your name."
Seyara snapped out of her daze. "You don’t need to know my name," she said, as rudely as ever.
"Oh, come on." Ayurmin slumped his shoulders dejectedly. "Can’t we be temporary friends until I find my way back? Just tell me your name."
