After my Mother, brother and Stacy left I made myself comfortable in my room. I tried focusing on writing but my mind kept shifting to one specific person.
What if we had gone back? What if my intuition was right and he was still out there?
"fuck it." After closing my laptop I stood up and reached for my file at my nightstand, Zydrunas might be not traceable but if the police would keep up with his pattern they would have already found him.
"Felix Morrison." After writing down his name on a piece of paper I opened My file.
All the other people who had been murdered by him were all tortured before dying, some were waterboarded, beaten up to death with a bat, cut open, and one was a little bit too creative.
Rumors had it that he glued an open jar with rats to his face, then blowtorched the end of the jar so the rats had no choice but to eat their way out of his face. But all had one in common.
They all bullied my lost brother.
It was clear who he was but I needed more evidence I needed to meet him in real life.
If someone told me 2 years ago that playing detective would be so much fun I would have laughed at their face but now I'm here, focusing more on being a detective rather than writing my next book.
Luckily for me I knew where he was going next.
"Susan."
Staring at the papers I probably had about a day to find out where she lived, good thing is, i knew how to stalk someone's instagram.
I started searching for her and after hours of torturous Labor I managed to find out where she lived. I quickly put my shoes and jacket on before making my way to her place.
I had a feeling that he was at her place to make sure it was the right person. I wasn't living too far away from here so I decided to go for a walk but while walking I felt watched. The feeling of being watched has been following me for a while now, but it definitely wasn't one of an alarming stare, more of a stare that brought me warmth and comfort.
Looking around I found no one but the moon staring down at me with a greetingly glow, yet while walking there was still an unknown presence that was watching.
"Come out! I-I'm not scared of you." My voice was tuned out by my and someone else's footsteps.
I turned around again but found no one.
"Stop playing and show yourself!" Nothing. I quickened my steps already regretting my actions of coming out late.
"Go home Niny." I heard a raspy and hoarsed voice say, clearly, that person had a damaged voice box. I completely ignored how he, somehow, knew my name or that he was stalking me.
"No one ever called me Nini since-"
"DON'T TOUCH NINY!" My brother, Andrew, yelled at our father.
"Get out of the way brat." Our father pushed him away and he landed on the broken glass bottles. I stared at him not being able to move away but before he could raise his hand Andrew jumped at him and pushed him away.
"I told you to NOT touch her you drunk assh-" Smack.
"Andrew!" I yelled out and ran to him, his head was bleeding but he stood up again.
"Show some respect, old man!" He yelled. This time instead of his palm, it was the alcohol bottle hitting his head, then the kicking started.
I couldn't help but stare in horror as Andrew tried to crawl away, I stood there frozen not being able to move but my mother quickly moved. While Andrew was being beaten up our mother took me and Melchior and carried us out of the house.
"No Mama! We need to go back! Andrew needs us!"
Melchior yelled at our mother as I tried to get off of her.
"We need to get out. Please listen to me, if we don't leave then there's no way out anymore." Our Mother answered as she ran while carrying us.
"But-" I was cut off by the storm.
After that night we never saw Andrew again.
I blinked away my tears.
"Andrew is that-"
I was about to turn around when I got pulled back.
"Stay away from her, you Monster!"
Melchior pulled me behind his back as he pointed the gun at Zydrunas, the killer who killed over fifty people and who I believed was Andrew.
More police officers joined us, but Zy stayed completely silent, not being hinged at all. Instead, he just smiled as if he found it amusing but he didn't draw out his weapon, nor did he try to attack anyone.
After a long uncomfortable silence I couldn't bear it anymore.
"He called me Niny." I still sounded a little breathy as I was still shocked about it.
"And?"
"The fuck do you mean what?! Only one person ever called me that!"
"That doesn't have to mean anything. He's dead, get over it." Melchior kept glaring at Zy while I was confused and frustrated.
"You don't have proof." For some reason Zy wasn't moving away, why wasn't he making a run for it?
"I don't need to have proof to know that he's dead!"
"Yes you do."
"I DO NOT!" I quickly stopped talking back when Melchy yelled at me, but Zy didn't take it so nicely. He watched over to Mal, ignoring the fact that he was held at gunpoint. Once he stood in front of Mal he pulled me back and kicked Mal before letting go of me and quickly walked away.
"What are you doing just standing there! Follow him!"
Melchior had to yell at his team first before they unfroze and started running after Zydrunas, once they were gone Melchior turned his attention back to me.
"I swear he called me Niny. Please! You have to believe me!" I was tired of him telling me the same thing over and over again.
"why won't you search for him? Why don't you want me to talk with mom about him? Why?" His lips trembled with each outlet of air as he hesitated to speak.
"Melchior, please talk to me."
"I... don't want it to be true, at all. Nor does our Mother want it to be true. He's on hi-" He was interrupted by multiple gunshots.
I could already guess who it was, not because anyone was laughing or screaming but because the gun used in the act was thrown right at our feet.
I glanced up, watching Zydrunas walk away with his mask bloodied.
