Kara hovered outside Lena's office, her heart pounding. She could hear the familiar hum of Lena's typing, her fingers pressing each key with a force Kara knew was driven by focus and, lately, anger. It had been months since she'd revealed her secret. Months since she'd pulled back the veil, dropped her glasses, and stood vulnerable in front of her friend, hoping for understanding and forgiveness. Instead, she'd found resentment and distrust.

But today was different. Today, she'd brought something that could be a bridge between them. Kara took a deep breath, steeling herself, and then knocked.

"Come in," Lena's voice floated through the door, cool and professional.

Kara entered, careful to keep her hands steady as she set down the folder she was carrying on Lena's desk. She didn't miss the slight stiffening in Lena's shoulders or the way her eyes hardened the moment they met.

"Hello, Lena," Kara started, her voice soft. "I know I said I'd give you space... but I couldn't let this go on without at least trying to make things right."

Lena leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms. "Kara, it's been months. I needed time, but I also needed honesty. And you hid one of the most significant things about you from me, someone you called a friend."

Kara nodded, taking in Lena's words without flinching. She deserved that. "I know. I'm not here to make excuses. I'm here to ask if there's any way we can move forward."

Lena's gaze lingered on Kara, and for the first time, she saw a flicker of something other than bitterness.

"What's in the folder?" Lena asked, raising an eyebrow.

Kara pushed it closer to her. "It's everything I could think of... things about me that I haven't shared with anyone, even Alex." She paused. "It's my way of giving you everything I held back. No secrets."

Lena studied her, and then, almost reluctantly, opened the folder. She scanned through the pages – notes about Kara's earliest memories of her powers, about the day she found out about Krypton, and even letters she'd written and never sent. They were vulnerable, raw. The side of Kara that, until now, only the closest people in her life knew.

"Why this?" Lena asked, her voice softening.

"Because I want to give you the chance to know me as I am," Kara said. "I hurt you by keeping this part of myself hidden, and I'm truly sorry for that. But... I didn't keep it from you because I didn't trust you. I was scared. Scared of the responsibility of being Supergirl, and scared of the pressure it would put on you if you knew."

Lena closed the folder, her fingers tracing the edge of it thoughtfully. "I needed time to understand," she murmured. "Because when I found out, it felt like the ground fell out from under me. Every time I looked back at our moments, there was this shadow of your secret. And I thought, maybe you didn't trust me."

Kara shook her head, her voice barely a whisper. "Lena, I trust you more than anyone. I've always admired your strength, your heart, and your intellect. And it's not just as Supergirl – it's as Kara. But I kept this from you, thinking I could protect both of us."

A quiet fell between them, and Kara felt the weight of her words sink into the room.

Lena finally broke the silence, her voice uncertain. "What would you do if you were in my place?"

Kara thought about it for a moment, her gaze dropping to the floor. "I'd be hurt. Angry, even. And I'd wonder if it was worth trusting that person again." She looked up, her eyes steady. "But I'd hope they'd fight to earn my trust back. And that's what I'm going to do, Lena. I'm going to do whatever it takes to earn back your friendship."

The tension in Lena's shoulders eased, if only a little. She took a deep breath, her hand resting on the folder as though it were an olive branch she wasn't sure she should accept. "You know, if we're going to try... it can't just be about apologies."

"I know," Kara agreed, a faint smile playing on her lips. "I want to help you rebuild what was broken. Maybe we can start with honesty, transparency."

Lena hesitated, her eyes searching Kara's face as if looking for proof of sincerity. Then she nodded slowly. "I don't want to just forgive and forget, Kara. If we do this, I need to know you'll keep being honest. I can't handle another secret."

Kara's heart soared, a wave of relief washing over her. "No more secrets," she promised. "From now on, you'll know everything."

They shared a long, searching look, and for the first time since that fateful reveal, there was a glimmer of hope between them. It wasn't a quick fix. It wouldn't magically erase the pain or the betrayal. But it was a beginning, and that was something.

Over the following months, they worked at it. Kara invited Lena into her world more than she ever had before, sharing the challenges and fears that came with being Supergirl. Lena, in turn, opened up about her own struggles – the expectations and pressures of her family name, the feeling of always being on the outside.

They had arguments. There were still rough patches, moments when old hurts resurfaced. But they also found joy in small victories, moments when they felt they were truly building something new. And with every step, every conversation, trust began to take root once again.

One night, they were sitting in Lena's office, watching the stars through the tall windows after a long day. Lena turned to Kara, her gaze softening.

"You know," she began, her voice almost a whisper, "I never thought I'd get here. Back to this place with you. I didn't think it was possible."

Kara smiled, her heart feeling full. "I didn't either," she admitted. "But I'm glad we fought for it."

They shared a quiet smile, a sense of peace settling over them both. It wasn't the same as it had been before. It was stronger, deeper, and built on the foundation of a friendship that had weathered its trials and come out the other side.

In that moment, with the city lights glimmering below, they knew they had rebuilt something unbreakable.
