"Think about it this way," Zayn said as I locked my car door and looked at the coffee shop across the street. I turned my head towards him, watching as he used his free hand to push his sunglasses up on his face, "Would you've rather her not tell you at all?"

"Well, if we weren't fucki-" I cleared my throat, remembering that Hayden was walking between us. Zayn snorted and I smiled at my daughter when she looked up at me, "If we weren't together at the time, I'm not sure if she would've even said something about the damn trip until it was time for her to leave."

"Do you tell her when you're about to leave to go on your trips?" Zayn asked, bending down to lift Hayden in his arms as we approached the crosswalk.

"Yes!" I scoffed but when he pursed his lips and turned his head towards me, I shrugged, "Now."

"Exactly, now. But before that, your ass was leaving whenever you got ready to."

"Yeah, but-"

"And it's okay because you're an adult, you can do whatever the hell you want," He said, crossing the street when the light signaled it was our turn to walk, "But, wouldn't that be the case in her situation too? She's an adult, she can do what she wants." He smirked, knowing he was right, "The only difference is she's entitled not to tell you shit. Especially with all the shit you put her through."

"Who's fucking side are you on?!" I asked as we approached the coffee shop.

"Hers, always," He chuckled.

I hummed in response, pulling the door open and nodding my head for him to go inside, "Yeah well-"

"Does she even know where you are right now?" He asked, his tone a dead giveaway that he already knew the answer.

"Getting coffee?" I shrugged and even from behind his sunglasses, I could see the judgemental glare. I pointed at him, "You better not say shit to her about this."

"What the fuck, Harry?" He adjusted Hayden to his other arm as we approached the cashier.

"What was I supposed to tell her?" I snapped.

"Hi, what can I get for you today?" The cashier asked, her smile vibrant.

"Two medium coffees, please. Dark roast, cream, and sugar in both. And a slice of birthday cake. Juice box?" I turned to ask Hayden for confirmation. She nodded, and I grinned, "And a juice box for my baby, please. That'll be it."

The cashier told me my total and I paid, leaving her a generous tip before we made our way to the end. It didn't take long for us to receive our order and we chose a table in the corner, far away from everyone else in case things got a bit heated. I was hoping it wouldn't go that route, though. In fact, I was going to do everything in my power to keep it from going that route, but he was unpredictable and I'd be damn if I let him disrespect me in front of my daughter.

Zayn sighed as he sat down, immediately moving to open Hayden's juice box, "Maybe you should've told her the fucking truth."

"Well, it's too late for that," I pursed my lips and leaned back in the chair, my eyes immediately drifting to the door as he pulled it open. I could feel my heart rate increase, the sound filling my ears as Arthur walked closer to the table.

As if we were both having the same thought, Zayn and I shifted closer to Hayden, thankful that she was too focused on her cake to notice anything.

Arthur's smirk held a bit of arrogance as he stopped in front of the table and it wasn't until then that I noticed the bodyguard standing behind him.
