“So, we basically have an entire team here. God, this feels like some kind of shitty heist movie.” Hisashi sounded particularly haggard, the screen showing that he was still in his office despite it being roughly midnight where he was. He’d spent the entire day finalising the hoard of medical reports, documented incidents, recordings and photographs, ensuring that they were in a readable and, most importantly, usable format. It had clearly taken its toll, his eyes framed by dark circles and hair wildly unkempt.
The other five were sitting in comfortable chairs made of plush leather, around one of UA’s private meeting rooms at Nedzu’s insistence. It wasn’t difficult to make comparisons to the knights of the round table, creating a coordinated plan of attack for the sake of one young teenager. All who sat at that table, both physically and in spirit, were paragons of morality and sentinels of safety for both society and Izuku, and were prepared to raise hell to get him his justice.
“It would be wise for us to divide ourselves into teams, would it not? We have a variety of skill sets at our disposal after all!” Nedzu piped up, earning a variety of agreements from the other members of the meeting. Already, they had each been working in separate areas to ensure their plan ran smoothly - it only made sense for them all to divide and conquer. In truth, Nedzu had been rather excited about the whole affair when he’d been drafted in to help both Hisashi and Naomasa organise Izuku’s three years worth of gathered evidence against Aldera and Katsuki. The chimaera had even seemed impressed, a look of almost wonder gracing his eyes as he scanned through those meticulous notes.
“Since I’m the only one here who’s an actual officer, I’ll be part of both legal cases. I also really shouldn’t be involved with handling Toshinori. He may be a close friend, but I’d probably throttle him if it were me handling this. The last thing we need is personal feelings messing up the plan.” Tsukauchi, ever the beacon of honesty, A hum of agreement from Inko, who sat by Nedzu’s side. He looked equally as exhausted, although that had been the detective’s default for quite some time now.
“I won’t be involved with the Bakugos for the exact same reason, though Shouta probably should be. For one, he’s an actual hero, for two, he doesn’t know the Bakugos, and for three-” A sharp cut-off, a light glare from sister to brother. Inko could look fierce when she wanted or needed to, but there was no malice in her gaze, only light annoyance.
“I can keep my emotions in check. I’ll take the Bakugo case with Tsukauchi, no problem. It’ll also give me the opportunity to argue for a lighter sentence, we don’t want to ruin the kid’s life. Hopefully he’ll take the opportunity to better himself, find a different path in life.” Aizawa may have seemed cold and uncaring towards his students, it came naturally to him, but he’d always had a soft spot for children.
The entire table seemed to be in agreement with him. What Katsuki had done was horrific, but he was still a child and considering what they knew about Aldera, it was clear he had been encouraged. They weren’t monsters, they wouldn’t destroy a young man’s life for the sake of vengeance.
“I’ll take the Aldera case with Tsukauchi then. Between the two of us who know the law inside and out, and Hizashi’s gift of persuasion, we’d be almost guaranteed the win.” Inko finished with a malicious grin, one that was matched by both Aizawa and Nedzu. A cold chill seemed to settle among the others in the room.
“I’m more than happy to be the acting pro in that case! I’m known for advocating for proper education, so it’d make perfect sense that someone like me is helping to take down a place like that, especially since Nedzu is also weighing in on it.” Hizashi spoke without his usual performative excitement, the situation far too serious for it. The others appeared to be silently appreciative - Hizashi’s usual energy would’ve been far too much for those who had been working all day, which was all of them.
“I’ll handle All Might then. It would take me no time at all to get the CCTV footage, and I can ask my colleague who knows him for his Hero Network details. Based on everything I’ve been told, it seems he’s a reasonable man underneath it all.” Ever the optimist, Hisashi seemed to brighten up ever so slightly. Either that, or it was the sheer glee at the opportunity to terrify the number one pro hero in Japan.
The six went over the teams once again. Aizawa and Tsukauchi to handle Bakugo, Hisashi to handle All Might. Finally, a large team made up of Inko, Tsukauchi, Hizashi and Nedzu to handle Aldera.
With it all set in stone, the conversation seemed to shift to a much easier topic, much to everyone’s delight. The soft grey walls no longer seemed to feel like the cold stone of a war room, more like the warm tone of a meeting between colleagues and friends.
“How’s young Izuku handling things, Inko? Is he nervous?” Nedzu’s voice was as steady as his paws were, pouring out tea for everyone physically present.
“Physically, clean bill of health from Chiyo, thank goodness. I’m having him see a therapist, since you mentioned that it would be both helpful for his mental health and helpful for the plan, it's working well for him.” Inko sipped her tea delicately.
“That’s great to hear, Inko! The poor little listener’s been through a lot, he deserves a win.” Hizashi’s grin, warm and inviting as the sun, appeared to put all of them at ease.
“Izuku is extremely intelligent for his age, though that’s to be expected with his parentage. A scientist bright enough to be hired by the HSPC and a lawyer with a plethora of won cases under her belt. I believe he will do just nicely once all of this is over, with whatever he decides to do. His education will be covered by UA, whether he studies with us or not.” An elegant sip of tea from the chimaera.
“Currently, he’s looking into becoming a police detective. He wants to do good and help people, and it seems he’s found that to be the best option for him.” Inko’s amusement was clear in her voice, though her confidence shone through too.
“I’m more than willing to put in a good word for him and help him train once he’s ready and finished with school. We could do with someone like him on the force.”
The conversation continued, light and breezy, until it was clear it was time for them to get themselves ready to enact their final plan. One by one, each of the members of the meeting called it a night soon after, all off to prepare for battle.
One they were certain to win, no matter what it took.
