Samira
"Stop it, you look beautiful" I told her for the hundredth time.
"Does my hair-"
"Yes, they look nice" I said with a reassuring smile. "Shall we go then?"
"Yeah, okay"
***
"Hey, you made it!"
"Of course, I never say no to a party"
"Why the long face? Samira, isn't it?"
"Hey!" Isha snapped her fingers in front of my face.
"Sorry, what did you say?"
"Are you okay? We can go back if you're not feeling well," Isha said in a low voice. But I can see it in her eyes that she wanted to stay.
"No, no, I'm fine. Just didn't hear you over the loud noise"
I gave Mihir a fake smile before we entered his house. Okay, Samira let's party. You love parties. So why doesn't it feel good?
We made our way through the crowd where all the drinks and snacks were.***
I lost Isha somewhere, and this punch is amazing. But why is my head spinning? Is this supposed to do this? I put the cup on the counter and started walking, following wherever my feet are taking me.
***
Something was pricking my body. Then I realized I'm lying on the grass. I gazed at the stars and suddenly my body starts floating in the sky. How amazing this feeling is. I never wanna go down, I want to be here forever.
"Don't you miss me?"
I looked to my side and there she was, lying next to me. I wanted to touch her, but I couldn't move. I shook my head, but tears started spilling from my eyes.
"I don't like you like that"
"Like what?" She said softly.
"Like-It's not right" Now more tears started spilling. I was too tired to wipe them away.
"Don't you think you deserve to be happy?"
"Please, leave me alone"
"You're not alone anymore"
"Just go away!"
It's not right. It's not...I closed my eyes. When I opened them again she was gone. Of course she was, no one ever stays. They all leave.
I tried to sit up, but my head was still spinning. I took out my phone and texted Isha, Hpel bckyd. Sometime later Isha came. She stood over me.
"What happened? Are you okay?"
"Fineee" I slurred.
"Are you drunk?" I shook my head then nodded. "Since when did you started drinking? What the hell Samira, is something wrong?" When I didn't say anything, she sighed and helped me stand.
"I'm worried about you. You've been acting different. This is not like you"
What am I like, then? Does anyone know? Do I even know?
We walked back inside the house but someone stupid stopped us.
"Hey, leaving so soon?" I glared at him. It's all his fault.
"Yeah, Samira's not feeling good. See you in class though"
"Alright...See you"
***
-Next day-Ugh, my head. The lights are burning my eyes. "Close the curtains!" I yelled with my scratchy throat.
"Rise and shine!" Isha said and pulled the curtains even wider.
"Noooo" I pulled the comforter over my head. "My head hurts"
"Of course it does. You were drunk last night" she glared at me.
"What are you doing here this early?" I changed the subject.
"I-I stayed the night. And it's 10 a.m., not that early"
I sat up and rested my head on the headboard. "Why?"
"Oh-uh, it was late, didn't feel like going home," she shrugged. "Aren't I welcome here anymore?" She pouted.
"Your house is just five minutes away and of course you are welcome here anytime"
"Well, I was tired too"
Is she lying? Or am I just reading into things?
-
What the hell did I do? The one thing I shouldn't even fucking touch, I drank it last night. I made a promise to myself I would never touch it. What the hell happened last night? I don't remember anything."Get up and go freshen up"
"Yes, mom" She rolled her eyes. I smiled at her and got up from the bed.
