Tanvi
"Okay, seriously, how did you find this place?" I asked, glancing around the place. We skipped last period.
Anaya smiled mysteriously, plucking a blade of grass and twirling it between her fingers. "That's a secret" she said playfully.
"Come on! You can't just leave me hanging like that" I insisted.
Anaya shrugged, her smile widening. "Some things are better left undiscovered, don't you think? It's nice to have a little mystery."
Mystery. I smiled back, but my mind began to race. What if Anaya finds out I'm bisexual? Suddenly I started feeling anxious. We'd just met, I don't want this to change anything between us. What if she thinks it's weird? What if it makes things awkward? The last thing I wanted was to ruin a potential friendship over something so personal. I don't want to scare her off. It wasn't like I was interested in her, but would she see it that way? I don't want to make the same mistake twice.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. I smiled and focused back on Anaya. For now, let's just enjoy this.
I leaned back on my hands, "I guess you're right. This place is amazing. I thought college would be nothing but studies and chaos."
"Exactly! It's nice to escape for a bit," she replied, "Especially with everything being so new. Sometimes I just need to breathe."
I sighed, knowing it all too well. "I feel that. These two weeks has been intense. I'm still trying to find my way around and figure out classes." Among other things.
"Same here" she admitted.
We both laid down on the grass and looked at the clouds passing by. It was pure silence and not an awkward one. I closed my eyes and let the calmness take over me.

"Tanvi, that's a pretty name""Really? You think so?" I replied, feeling a flutter of happiness.
"Yeah, it's lovely"
"I was thinking... I'd love to visit you one day. Mumbai sounds amazing, especially the beach" I said, my heart racing at the thought.
"Really? You'd want to come here?" There was hesitation in her voice but I ignored it.
"Absolutely! We could spend the day at the beach, make sandcastles, and just relax"
"That does sound nice"
"I can't wait!"
---"Hey, wake up!" Someone shook my shoulders.
I rubbed my eyes "What?"
"I thought you died" she let out a sigh of relief.
I sat up and stared at Anaya. I don't know when I fell asleep. "Really?" I felt bad seeing her all worried.
"Of course not" she shook her head and started laughing, "I'm just joking. You are so easy"
I nudged her in the shoulder "You-"
"Let's go, last class ended 15 minutes ago"
"Why didn't you wake me up then?"
"You looked like this is the first time you've slept in days. So, I let you sleep" she shrugged.
She's not wrong though, I haven't been sleeping well these days.
"What were you dreaming about?" I furrowed my brows in confusion. "You were mumbling something, I couldn't figure it out. But you had a smile on your face, so I guess it was something good?"
I felt the colour drain from my face. I was dreaming about her. I am glad she didn't hear anything.
"It was nothing" I brushed it off and got up to leave. "Let's go" I offered her my hand to take and she gladly took it then we left. She looked at me like she was trying to gather her thoughts but couldn't say them out loud. I just hoped she wouldn't ask me anything else.
