"And you are sure it was Florida?" Dewey asked, pen and paper in his hand as Tatum sat next to you, a hand on your shoulder. "Yes, at my aunts. Glencoe, Revenoe St. 162," you answered. You had lived there for 13 years of your life for God's sake.
"We can't reach them or your aunt. Could they have stayed somewhere else? Anyhow, don't worry, (N/N). We'll find them. I'll be right back," he pat you on the back and headed to Sheriff Burke's office where Billy was getting questioned.
-
"Tell them! (Y/N)! (Y/N), come on you know me. (N/N), look at me! Tell them, doll," you averted your gaze. Sidney had arrived earlier, and you almost broke down at the sight of her. You felt so fucking guilty, you put her boyfriend in jail after all. She assured you that she was not mad. She would have done the same which made you feel a bit better. Now however the guilty feeling came back. You watched Billy as the police officers took him away, his big brown eyes widened as he begged you to prove to them that he was innocent. The guilt was eating you up.
You snapped back into reality when Sidney put a hand on your shoulder.
"Hey Dewey, can we go now?" Tatum groaned. She had already pulled you up from your chair. "Hold on a sec-" Dewey held up a finger which Tatum smacked back down. "God damn it, Dewey."
Dewey turned to her and showed her his badge. "What did Mom tell you? When I wear this badge, you treat me as a man of the law," he rumbled in a macho voice.
"I'm sorry Deputy-Dewey-Boy but, we're ready to go. Now, ok?" She rolled her eyes and you smiled for the first time that night.
The officers around you erupted into a fit of laughter as Dewey's cheeks reddened in embarrassment.
"Take them out the back way to avoid that circus out there," Sheriff Burke ordered and Dewey nodded as he took Tatum's arm. "Come on. Now, Tate that was my superior!" He sounded offended. Tatum had embarrassed him in front of the whole station. "The janitor's your superior," the younger sibling mouthed, her hand gripping yours tightly.
-
Sidney, Tatum, Dewey and you came out of the Police Station in a dark alley. You were like a puppet as Tatum dragged you after her by your arm.
"You guys stay here; I'm going to get the car. Don't move, don't make a sound," Dewey ordered as he went around the back toward the parking lot. The clicking of heels made you look over your shoulder when you saw the familiar reporter.
"There she is, (Y/N)! Hi! That's some night. What happened? Are you alright?" Gale came running, which made Tatum step in front of you protectively. "She's not answering any questions. Just leave us alone."
Sidney pushed through Tatum to Gale who gave the younger girl a fake smile as Kenny almost smacked the camera into Sidney's face.
"No, it's okay, Tatum. She's just doing her job. Right Gale? Just like last year?" Sidney smiled up at the reporter who nodded almost eagerly, hoping for a top story. "So, how's the book?" Sidney asked, her interest as fake as Gale's smooth skin. "Well, it'll be out later this year," the news reporter smiled. It wouldn't surprise you if the plastic in her lips suddenly burst and splashed into Sidney's face. The thought made you hide an amused smile as Sidney spoke again. "I'll look for it."
"I'll send you a copy!" Gale grinned but that quickly fell from her face as Sidney's fist found the reporter's eye. She fell back and groaned in pain, her hand found its way to her eye, and her expression was filled with shock.
-
"God, I loved it 'I'll send you a copy' BAM bitch went down! 'I'll send you a copy' BAM Sid Super Bitch! You are so cool!" She threw her fists into the air as you chuckled and nodded in agreement. Dewey then entered Tatum's room; a block of ice wrapped in a towel in his hand.
"I thought you might want some ice for that right hook," he said amusedly. You looked up at him. He had on some pajama pants and a white tank. He handed Sidney the ice who took it with a silent thanks, his gaze not leaving yours as he smiled down at you and adjusted his clothes nervously.
"Goodnight (N/N). I'm right next door if you need anything- I mean if you have a nightmare- not like you should come to me if you're scared, I mean you could if you want to but I could show you the sleeping pills or make you a cup of tea or get you another blanket. Yeah- uh anyway. Sleep tight," he rubbed his neck, and you smiled up at him gratefully. "Thanks, Dewey. I'll keep that in mind."
"First Randy now my brother. You're a boy magnet (N/N)," Tatum chuckled in amusement as she twisted a lock of your hair around her finger. "Do you really think Billy did it?" She asked and looked down at you.
"He was there Tatum, he had the phone, and he came shortly after the killer left," you muttered as you rolled onto your stomach, quickly regretting it, the stab wound not yet fully healed.
Mrs Riley then entered the room, the telephone in hand. "Telephone honey, it's for (N/N)."
"My parents?" You asked as you jumped up. Mrs Riley shook her head and handed you the phone. "I don't think so, sweetie."
You walked out of the room, the phone in hand as you put it up to your ear. "Hello?"
"Hello, doll," The man purred. You could recognize that voice anywhere. "NO! Stop! Please stop!" You screamed at which Tatum and Sidney came running to your side.
"Poor Billy. An innocent guy doesn't stand a chance with you. Looks like you fingered the wrong guy! Don't worry, you'll find out who I am soon enough, I promise. I spared you twice for a reason, doll."
"(Y/N), hang up," Tatum mumbled. Sidney grabbed the phone out of your hand. Tatum pulled you into a tight hug as Mrs Riley knocked on Dewey's door, screaming for him to come out and do something.
"Hey, fucker, leave (Y/N) alone-" Sidney yelled into the phone but the beeping of the line going dead interrupted her mid-speech. He had hung up. Of course, he had.
Dewey stormed out of his room, his gun in hand. It looked like he had already been sleeping. "What? What?" He muttered tiredly as Tatum guided you back to her room. "What?" She mocked her older brother who strolled over to the phone and inspected it closely.
