Dribble woke up the next morning, rubbing sleep from his eyes. He slowly got his work uniform back on, muttering to himself that he had to find something else to wear soon, or at least find a laundry room.He made his way to the mess hall, and it seemed Alastor was on breakfast duty that day, as he had made bacon and eggs for breakfast.
Dribble grabbed himself a plate, seeing Gabriel wave him down from a table.
He sat down across from Gabriel.
“What’s goin on?” He asked, only to be handed a small yet familiar bandana.
“Holly asked that I make everyone something out of Heket’s scarf.” He replied. “It was more difficult than I thought, given it was soaked in her blood and was several times larger than I am, but I managed.” Gabriel stated.
Dribble nodded and wrapped the bandana around his wrist, smiling when he saw the familiar triangle on it.
“Where’s yours, Gabriel?” Dribble asked.
“It's in my pocket.” Gabriel replied. “I couldn't find anywhere else to put it that I liked, so I decided keeping it there would be best.”
“Ah, okay.” Dribble nodded. “...It feels so weird, without her here. She’s usually the first thing you see when you walk in.”
“It is.” Gabriel replied solemnly. “Alastor seems the most upset about her demise, sans Holly, of course. Holly has refused to exit her room, but I went to make sure she is alive.”
Dribble nodded. “Yeah…”
‘I guess I can go hang out with some people if I wish. Gabriel looks like he is gonna go hang out with Max, so I'm gonna hang out with Alastor.’ Dribble thought, before finishing his food and entering the kitchen.
Alastor was at the counter, drinking a cup of coffee. His usual smile seemed false now, and his eyes held an unspeakable sadness in them.
“...Alastor?” Dribble asked. “Are you doing okay?”
“...I suppose.” Alastor replied. “...Heket was one of my few friends in this place. And to see her die for such a noble cause…it…it affected me, to say the least.”
“I know, it sucks.” Dribble replied. “Life is just like that.”
“...While you are here.” Alastor asked. “I…I found some things I want you to have.” Alastor then handed him what looked like a tablet, and a paper. Dribble recognized the paper as another Project: INFERNO paper.
‘Project: INFERNO
Subject 1902: Radio Demon
Status: Successful
Tera Type: Electric
Notes: How ironic for the technology hating demon to get the Electric Tera Type.- Cthonaut S’
“I…is there a video of some sorts on this tablet?” Dribble asked.
“Yes.” Alastor matter of factly replied. “It's about Project: INFERNO. More accurately, what it is.”
“I’ll watch it tonight.” Dribble replied.
“Oh, and Natsuki said she wants to talk to you in her room. She says she found out something about Holly that is important. From her tone, I can tell it's something that has to do with Project: INFERNO.” Alastor said. “But for now, farewell. If you need me, I will be with Max.”
Alastor left the room to go see Max, and Dribble left the room to go see Natsuki in her room.
Dribble gently knocked on Natsuki’s door. He smiled when the pink haired girl opened the door.
“Come in.” She said, before sitting down on her bed. Dribble sat next to her, and she promptly placed a paper in his hands. Another Project: INFERNO paper, but this one was different.
‘Project: INFERNO
Subject 2007: Ilex
Status: Successful
Tera Type: Stellar
Notes: STELLAR!? OH MY GOD! HOW?- Sapia’
“...Judging by what Sapia is saying here…Stellar is something that is very important.” Dribble said.
“No sh*t.” Natsuki spoke. “I think that the vid Al gave you is explaining what Tera Types even are.”
“I hope so.” Dribble said. “If you guys ever find any other Project: INFERNO papers, give them to me. I think they must be important.”
Natsuki nodded, and then the night time announcement came on the P.A system.
“I guess I’ll get going now.” Dribble got up from her bed and made his way to his room.
He carefully took his work uniform and the bandana Gabriel gave him, getting into his pajamas.
He took the tablet and turned it on, and then pressed play.
The video started with a woman wearing a surgical mask, a large lab coat, black tights, and a black undershirt sitting at a table.
“Hello.” She said, “If you are watching this, then you wish to know more about Project: INFERNO. I am Sapia, and this video is about the Terastal phenomena, which is what this project is about.”
19 symbols then showed up on screen when the video transitioned.
“There are 19 different types of types one can Terastallize their Pokemon into, in order to change what type they are in combat. Normal, Flying, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ghost, Dark, Psychic, Fighting, Poison, Bug, Fairy, Steel, Ground, Ice, Dragon, Rock, and most importantly, Stellar.”
The symbols all showed their names under them, with the rainbow symbol bearing the name of Stellar.
“Normally, only Pokemon can Terastallize. But, that all changes with Project: INFERNO. Inspired by the Divine Comedy, I am going to do something no one has ever done before: Attempt to Terastallize a human and several other species, like anthropomorphic dogs and frogs, sentient AI and robots, and even Sinners.”
The footage then transitioned to 19 familiar silhouettes. Dribble immediately recognized them as himself plus everyone else that was or is on the submarine, sans Monokuma.
“All of these people were unfortunately harmed by the Ultimate Despair. Very harmed, in both body and mind. But, thanks to the time altering properties of the Terastallization phenomena, I am determined to use it to revert their bodies, and maybe even their minds in some cases, back in time to a time before they got harmed.”
The footage cut back to Sapia.
“I will update you with more information about how the project is going, but for now, this is goodbye.”
Dribble sat the tablet down, thinking about what he just saw.
No wonder there were exactly 19 of them. All of them have a Tera Type. All of them can Terastallize. But how?
Dribble just closed his eyes. After all that happened today, he just wanted to get some sleep. Monokuma was probably going to reveal some dumb motive tomorrow, so he wanted to catch some sleep so he was mentally prepared for it. But before he did, he was startled by a message. He looked, and it seems he was added to a private chat with Gabriel and Holly.
MothMan: Dribble, I need you to meet with me and Holly tomorrow in my room.
DribbleDrive: Why?
GhostGal: We found some important information about Project: INFERNO. Mainly, what everyone’s Tera Types are, presented by ‘Cthonaut S’.
DribbleDrive: I saw a video about what Tera Types are if you wanna see that.
MothMan: That would be wonderful, Dribble. Get some sleep.
Dribble closed the messaging app and closed his eyes, sighing.
Why did Monokuma even select the subjects of Project: INFERNO for this killing game?
