Chapter Seven (A meeting with the VP)

    The van screeched to a halt,and Anne's blindfold was removed.She blinked in the bright light,her eyes adjusting slowly.Her gaze landed on a figure she never expected to see.Vice President Donald Wales.Anne's shock was palpable."Vice President Wales?What...what is going on...?"

    The Vice President's smile was reassuring."Anne,please,don't worry.I'm not here to harm you.I merely wanted to...discuss something with you."

    Anne's mind raced."Discuss what?Why the secrecy and kidnapping?"Vice president chuckled."let's just say Anne,that i wanted to ensure our conversation remains..private.No prying eyes or ears."

    Anne's eyes narrowed."What do you want,Mr Vice President?"
    "I want nothing else but to keep you out of this.Your lucky enough because Liz Thompson didn't get the chance to meet me before she was killed.May be if I had met her and warned her,she would be alive even to date."

    Anne started looking devasted."Anne your dealing with someone who is hectic.He is willing to kill anyone to satisfy his selfish interests and that is Senator Ben."
    "I don't know what your meaning,"Anne fumbled.
     "Anne am not supposed to share this with you because it spoils my family's reputation but for the case of saving you,let me tell you."

     "The truth is that i helped Ben to become the Senator,I loved him as my own son.I gave him the world he dreamt of and all he paid in return was to cheat on my daughter.When we found out his adulterous actions,he hurried and killed Liz Thompson and plotted that I am responsible for that.He is spoiling my name,congress men and women have started questioning my reputation,news reporters are even making it worse.Yes,he is playing this game so nicely because so far he is leading,he has got the sympathy from the public but what he doesn't know is that he is dealing with someone who has participated in these games for long.I can do him anything i want but he remains the father to my grand son.All i want from him is to give me everything I gave him."

     "Are you going to kill him?"Ann asked curiously.
    "I can't kill him I told you already."
     "Mr Vice President,they always say that you politicians know how to divide and rule,you always do this through manipulations.Are you sure these issues are only family based,there is no other ties on them."

    "I like the fact that your intelligent.But sometimes it needs to be a good listener not a good thinker,Anne stop thinking and start listening to what am telling you."
    "Am right to think, because am imagining how your too responsible to save my life."

    Vice President Wales laughed."Your too hard to convince.Amyway i will let you go now,the good thing i have warmed you.Am not the one going to kill you,it's your Boss.It has been good to meet you Anne but mind your intelligence."

    Immediately Anne was covered with a black mask.They drove quickly and reached somewhere free from public notice,they removed her from the Van and continued their journey.Anne removed the mask from her head,wondered where she was but most importantly,her meeting with Vice President Wales was a suspense in her heart.
