The practice room was filled with the vibrant energy of ENHYPEN as they prepared for their upcoming comeback. The members moved in perfect sync, the music pulsing through the air, igniting their spirits. Laughter and shouts of encouragement echoed as they rehearsed their choreography, each member pushing themselves to nail every move. It was a crucial time for them, but even the most dedicated groups needed a break now and then.
As the intense dance session wrapped up, Niki, the youngest and the resident mischief-maker, leaned back against the wall with a playful glint in his eyes. "Hey, how about we spice things up a bit? Let's have a hand wrestling contest!" He announced, his grin infectious.
The other members paused, turning to Niki, who was practically bouncing on his feet with excitement. Sunghoon raised an eyebrow, a teasing smirk forming on his lips. "Hand wrestling? Really? That's your big idea for a break?"
Niki shrugged, unfazed by Sunghoon's skepticism. "Come on! It'll be fun! Plus, I bet we'll see some hilarious moments."
Jake, always eager to please and jump into any challenge, piped up, "I'm in! Sunghoon, let's do it!" His enthusiasm was palpable, and he couldn't help but feel competitive.
Sunghoon chuckled, his playful demeanor shifting as he glanced at Jake. "Wait, you want me to go against you?" He feigned disbelief. "Alright, but don't cry when I beat you."
The other members erupted in laughter at Sunghoon's playful jab, and Jake felt a rush of determination. He couldn't back down now; he had to prove himself, if only to avoid being teased even more.
"Let's do it!" Jake declared, stepping forward confidently. He shot Sunghoon a determined look. "Just don't hold back!"
The rest of the group quickly gathered around, their curiosity piqued by the spontaneous challenge. "Let's get this started! Who's the referee?" Heeseung asked, trying to suppress his laughter.
"Me!" Niki yelled, jumping into the role with glee. "Ready? Set? Go!" His voice echoed in the room, excitement radiating from him.
Jake and Sunghoon locked hands in the center of the practice room, their brows furrowing in concentration. The atmosphere was electric, and both of them were determined to win. Sunghoon had the advantage, his strength evident as he pushed against Jake's palm.
"Come on, Jake! You can do it!" Heeseung cheered, clapping his hands. The rest of the members chimed in, each shouting encouragement.
Jake grunted, muscles straining as he tried to gain the upper hand. For a moment, it seemed like it could go either way. Sunghoon's determination shone through as he leaned in closer, trying to overpower Jake.
But just as the tension peaked, Sunghoon managed to get a firm grip and pushed down hard, winning the match with a triumphant laugh. "Yes! Victory is mine!" he exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air like a champion.
Jake stared at his hand in disbelief, the sudden loss hitting him harder than he expected. The playful teasing of the other members echoed in his head, mixing with his disappointment. He felt a lump rise in his throat, and despite his best efforts, tears began to well up in his eyes. "I just wanted to win..." he mumbled, his voice shaking.
Sunghoon's expression changed instantly from playful to concerned. "Hey, Jake, it's just a game," he said softly, crouching down to meet Jake's eye level. "You did great! It's okay to lose sometimes."
Jake sniffled, brushing a tear away with the back of his hand, embarrassed but grateful for Sunghoon's support. The other members watched the exchange, their teasing halted by Sunghoon's unexpected tenderness.
"C'mon, Jake, it was just a little hand wrestling," Sunwoo teased, trying to lighten the mood. "We all know you're stronger in other ways. Besides, you're the best at dancing."
"Yeah, you still have the dance battle to look forward to!" Sunghoon encouraged, giving Jake's shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "And I promise I'll go easy on you next time."
As Jake began to calm down, the other members broke into laughter again. "Look at you, Jake! Crying over a hand wrestling match!" Niki teased, earning playful glares from both Sunghoon and Jake.
"I wasn't crying!" Jake protested, his voice muffled by his embarrassment.
The next morning, the atmosphere was lighter, and the teasing had only intensified. The members gathered around the breakfast table, snickering as they recounted the previous day's events.
"Did you hear Jake was crying after losing to Sunghoon?" Niki said, barely able to contain his laughter. "What a baby!"
"He's definitely the weakest in hand wrestling," Sunwoo chimed in, winking at Jake, who was trying to hide his face behind a cereal box.
"Okay, okay, I get it! You can stop now," Jake replied, his voice muffled as he buried his face in his breakfast, wishing he could disappear.
Sunghoon, sitting next to him, couldn't help but chuckle at the sight. "Don't be too hard on him. He was just trying to win. Besides, he's a champion at a lot of other things." He nudged Jake playfully, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Like crying over losing!" Heeseung shouted, and the others erupted into laughter again.
Jake groaned, his cheeks turning crimson. "You all are the worst," he muttered, trying to sound annoyed but unable to suppress a smile.
Sunghoon leaned closer, sensing Jake's discomfort, and lowered his voice just for him. "They're just joking. But if you ever want a rematch, I'll go easy on you next time. Just promise you won't cry again."
Jake shot him a playful glare, but his heart fluttered at the gentle teasing and support. "I can take you on any day now that I know your secret," he replied, trying to sound more confident.
Sunghoon laughed, leaning back in his chair. "Sure, sure. But just know, you'll always have me cheering you on—tears and all."
As the playful banter continued around them, Jake felt a warm sense of comfort with Sunghoon by his side. Even amidst the teasing, he knew he had someone who believed in him, no matter the outcome of any hand wrestling match.
"Maybe next time, I'll have a secret weapon," Jake declared suddenly, a determined glint in his eye.
"Oh? And what would that be?" Niki asked, genuinely curious.
"I'll train! You won't know what hit you!" Jake replied, his competitive spirit reignited.
Sunghoon leaned back, crossing his arms with a smirk. "I'll hold you to that, Jake. But remember, no crying next time!"
The members erupted into laughter again, and as the teasing continued, Jake felt a sense of belonging wash over him. No matter how many playful jabs were thrown his way, he knew they all cared for each other deeply. And that made the prospect of a rematch even more exciting.
With a determined smile, Jake realized that he was ready for whatever challenges lay ahead—hand wrestling or otherwise. And with Sunghoon by his side, he felt like he could take on the world.
