"are you sure I have to go?"
minho sighed, leaning against his chair.

"I thought you loved it there."
minhos mom said, stirring up the pasta.
"you were always so excited when we went there. you even had a favorite horse."

"I liked it when I was younger. the last time I was on the ranch when I was like...thirteen?"

"exactly, your grandma misses you."
she said, putting a plate with pasta in front of her son.
"and besides, I think it would be good for you. some country breeze and nature can be really relaxing you know?"

"but it's finally summer! I was excited to go out with my friends, play games, go to sleep at early mornings...you know, enjoy my summer?"
minho said, a little annoyed.

"who said you can't enjoy the summer with your grandma? and maybe your friends can go visit you. it's just an hour ride by train."
mrs. lee shrugged.

"I highly doubt that they would want to go there."
minho sighed.

"look minho."
his mom sighed, sitting down on the opposite side of him.
"grandma is getting sick, and she would really use some help there. and at least you will spend some time with her. she's alone there, and I don't have that much time to visit her. she would be happy that she's not there all alone."

"I thought she had some people there, you know, helping her."

"of course she does. she wouldn't be able to take care of the ranch all alone. but non of those people are her...real family."

minho sighed.
his mom was right.
"okay. but...do I have to be there for the whole summer?"

"we will talk about this when you get there. maybe you will like it there and spend the whole summer there willingly."
Minhos mom said, getting up.
"now eat. the food is getting cold."

•~•

packing his things into a bag, minho was still feeling a little annoyed.
he was a lazy person, and getting up with the sunrise everyday wasn't exactly what he wished to do for the next two months.

but...maybe it will be fun?
I mean, it was true he kinda missed his grandma, and he was curious about how the ranch looked now.
was it still the same as he remembered it?

with a sigh, he zipped his bag.
just as he did so, the door of his room opened, and his mom walked in.

"you're packed already?"
she asked, a small smile on her face.

minho nodded.
"mhm. I will just pack the toothbrush and stuff tomorrow, cuz I will still need them in the morning."

"yeah. your train is leaving at eleven in the morning, so I'm gonna drive you there at ten. we will stop somewhere and get you something to eat. or should I just make you something? sandwich?"

"sure, I honestly don't really care. I think pbj sandwich will be enough."
minho stood up.
"I'm gonna go take a shower, and then go and enjoy my last few hours on the internet."

Minhos mom rolled her eyes playfully.
"there is Wi-Fi there minho, you're overreacting."
she said, before walking to the door.
"well, I'm gonna go to bed. have sweet dreams minho. sleep well."

"thanks mom, you're too."
minho said, giving his mom a small smile, before she closed his door and walked away.

"well, now we just gotta hope that this whole summer won't be a disaster."
minho sighed, before walking into the bathroom, locking the door.
