Chapter 25

Wattpad is freaking out and won't let me post just chapter 25 so chapter 26 is added to the end of chapter 25

*Narrators POV*

Tears started to fall from her eyes. At first, they came slowly, but then more and more came, and they wouldn't stop. They were tears of joy. It wasn't him, Spence was alive! "That's not him, that's not him," she said insistently to the coroner. He covered the body back up as he carefully watched her. JJ slowly backed away from the body to try and distance herself from it. If that wasn't Spence there, then he must be badly hurt and in the hospital. "Great, now I have to figure out who this poor guy is," the coroner said to himself. "Did you see the accident scene?" he asked JJ. "No, I didn't," she said, wiping tears from her eyes. "Good, cause it was pretty nasty. This guy here was drunk and hit the other man. It's a miracle that that dude survived. Your friend is pretty lucky," the coroner told her. "Yeah, I guess he is," JJ said as she started to leave the room. Before the coroner had a chance to say anything else, she had left the room.

As soon as JJ had reached her car, she turned on her cell phone and dialed the number for the BAU. She was so relieved that Reid was alive that she almost forgot about their fight. She partially felt responsible for the accident because she was the reason that he got into the car. He was mad at her, and he got hit by that drunk driver because of her. Before she had a chance to delve deeper into her thoughts, someone on the other line of the phone picked up. "JJ, have any news?" Hotch asked as soon as he picked up the phone. "Yeah, good news actually- It wasn't him!" JJ said, a little too excitedly. "That's great. We'll meet you at the hospital then, okay?" Hotch told JJ. "Yeah, see you then," she said as she hung up the phone. She couldn't wait to see him, so she quickly drove off to the hospital. Before she went to the hospital, though, she realized that Henry was just about to get out of school. Normally, Will would pick him up, but since he wasn't there, JJ had to pick up Henry herself. She quickly stopped by the school and brought him into the car. "Mommy!" He exclaimed excitedly when he saw her waiting outside his school. She ran over to him and hugged him tightly. After almost loosing Spence, she didn't want to ever risk losing Henry. "Hey buddy," she whispered in his ear. "We can't go home just yet," she told him quietly. "Why not?" He said as she released him from her tight hug. "Well, um- Uncle Spence had an accident, and we need to visit him at the hospital," she tried to explain to him gently. "Is he gonna be okay?" Henry asked while walking back to the car. "We don't know, so it would make him really happy if you come to visit him at the hospital," JJ told her son. She couldn't quite read his face as she strapped him into his car seat, but he seemed to understand the situation. "Okay, so let's get going then," Henry said happily. He seemed excited to go see Uncle Spence in the hospital. The two always had a great relationship that JJ admired, and now she might know why.

Chapter 26

*Narrators POV*

JJ was the first of the team to arrive at the hospital. She had a hard time finding where Reid was, so she just figured he'd be in the ICU. When she got to the ICU floor, they told her that he was still in surgery and she could wait in the waiting room, so that's what she did. Her and Henry sat down in the uncomfortable seats in the waiting room and waited for the rest of the team. As soon as they arrived, Garcia gave JJ a big hug. "You are so brave for doing what you did, and I am so proud of you," Garcia whispered in JJ's ear. "Thanks Penelope," JJ responded as she broke the hug. Hotch gave her a nod of approval and Rossi did something similar. Henry tightly held his mothers hand as he watched the scene unfold. He was a little confused, but he mostly understood. Morgan just walked by JJ without saying anything. This was really hard on him too. "Hey, so I guess you might never get out of this mess," Emily said quietly to the blonde in an attempt to cheers her up. "I guess not," JJ said, forcing a smile. "Are you okay?" Emily asked as she patted her friend on the back. JJ didn't answer though. She wasn't okay. Inside, she felt like she was breaking. Not only was Spence mad at her, but he was also badly hurt. Emily just nodded and gave her a smile before she went to sit down. Kate followed Emily and sat next to her and then JJ took a seat. She explained to the rest of the team what the nurse had told her: Reid had internal bleeding, a broken arm, a penetrating chest wound, and shrapnel all over. "He was in surgery, but the nurse didn't saw when he would get out" JJ said to the team as she held Henry's hand even tighter. He just looked up at his mother and wondered why she was so sad. There were tears in her eyes and the little boy didn't know why. "It's okay momma," Henry said to his mother while giving her a hug. That helped to cheer her up and she squeezed him tightly. "Thank you buddy," she whispered to him.

About an hour later, there was still no news. JJ was starting to get worried. She wondered what life would be like without him, but it was unimaginable. She couldn't live without him or his smart remarks. She couldn't go without telling him that she loved him. It would be impossible to carry on if he died. Even Henry would be devasta- "Spencer Reid," A nurse called out, snapping JJ out of her thoughts. Immediately, the whole team stood up and walked over to the nurse. "He's out of surgery, but he's still a little unstable. He was lucky he survived. He might be in some pain, so we want to keep him a couple days for observation. If you want, you guys can see him now. His room is right down the hall," The nurse said, motioning towards his room. A wave of relief rushed through JJ's body when she heard this. He was okay, he was okay. "Thank you," Hotch said to the nurse as she walked away. The team started off towards Reid's room, but JJ and Henry didn't follow them. She wasn't so sure that Spence would want to see her after the fight they had. Emily noticed that she was further behind and stopped walking. "JJ, you coming?" She asked as she started to walk towards JJ. When the team heard this, they stopped walking as well and waited for her. "No, no um I don't think he would be too happy to see me after what happened this morning," JJ said quietly so only Emily could hear. "Are you sure?" Emily asked, concerned. "Yeah, yeah, me and Henry are going to stay here, you guys go," JJ said as she waved the team off. All of the team except for Emily went into his room. She wanted to wait outside with JJ to make sure she would be alright. "Wait, but I wanna see Uncle Spence!" Henry protested, tugging on his mother's hand. "I'll take him," Emily volunteered as she walked over to the two of them. "Okay, thanks," JJ said to Emily. "C'mon Henry, let's go and see Uncle Spence!" Emily said cheerfully as she grabbed his hand. JJ watched as the two of them made their way into his Spence's room. Once they were safely inside, she sat down in the waiting room and waited 'til they were done.
