As we turned our gaze toward the horizon after the Godsbane was dipped into the sacred fire, ready for the battle ahead, a simmering portal began to form before us. Its gleaming surface was pulsating with otherworldly energy. It was a gateway to another realm and, at other times, a door to the ancient ruins of Egyptian civilization, where the next chapter of our destiny was awaited.
I knew the portal was indicating the obtainment of wisdom that I would need in the battle ahead. I was told that the ancient Pharaoh on the journey would lead me to the wisdom that could help me defeat the forces of God.
"It's a portal again," Layla said, looking at me, wondering what that meant.
"Yeah, I know why it's here after I just soaked the Godsbane in the fire of the angels. This is an indication of the next phase of our journey. It will take us to the wisdom that we need in the battle of the gods," I said and urged them to move forward in the direction of the simmering portal that glowed with psychedelic hues reflecting light back and forth.
With a shared sense of purpose, all four of us stepped through the portal, the surroundings shifting and warping around us as if we were transported across the boundaries of time and space. In the blink of an eye, we found ourselves standing amidst the majestic ruins of Egypt, surrounded by towering pyramids and crumbling temples that spoke of a bygone era. The warm breeze carrying the sand of the desert touched our faces and told tales of the golden eras.
"We're in Egypt," Alex hummed, looking around the decaying temples.
"Do you by any chance know why we're in Egypt?" Jordan asked me inquisitively as if he knew I would know the answer to his question, which I guess I did.
"I once saw this in my dream a few years back. Now, it all makes sense. We're here to seek wisdom that would help us in the battle of the gods," I told them, but my answer didn't seem to end their confusion, so I elaborated on the things that might occur in this phase and how we could better prepare for that.
"We need to find the medium that would call the ancient spirits of the past and equip us with knowledge not known to men before."
"I don't think anyone would be here on this desolate land. Look at this place. It's in ruins. It looks like everyone is dead," Alex spoke his mind as he looked to his left and right for any signs of other creatures or humans, for that matter.
It indeed was a barren desert with ancient ruins everywhere. But amidst the ancient ruins of Egypt, memories of a dream from years past flooded my mind. In that dream, I had found myself wandering through the same crumbling temples and forgotten tombs, guided by an old medium who spoke of ancient spirits and the secrets they held.
"We must find the medium; she's the answer to all our questions, and only she can guide us on how to acquire that knowledge," I told them.
"The medium?" Layla asked in confusion.
"Yeah, an old woman with great powers to call on powerful spirits, who will tell us why we're here and the things we will be needing on the journey to defeat the most powerful foe," I told Layla.
"All right, so where are we finding this old medium then?" she asked inquisitively.
"Somewhere along the road, I guess," I informed her and wiped off the sweat that covered my forehead as the scorching heat didn't seem to falter anytime soon.
"So, where are we supposed to go, in which direction?" Layla asked me.
"I think when I dreamt about this years ago, I went inside a tunnel that was somewhere amidst the ruins of ancient Eygpt. I think we should go inside the temples and search for that tunnel," I instructed them.
