The Siberian wind clawed at my face as I stood before the shimmering portal. Now, I bore the weight of a god-slayer. Behind me, Layla, Jordan, and Alex huddled together against the bite of the cold. Before them stretched a vast, frozen landscape, its icy plains and towering mountains stretching as far as the eye could see.
As they journeyed deeper, stepping through, the world dissolved into a swirling vortex of colors and chaotic energy. When their vision cleared, they found themselves in a desolate landscape bathed in ice. Two moons hung low in the sky, casting long, and supernatural beings frozen in time, their tall stature telling the story of ancient times on the frozen wasteland.
"Welcome to ancient Siberia," Layla muttered, her voice tight. "The Ancient Siberia in a different universe apparently, as you can see the two moons."
The air hummed with malevolent energy, not very different from the other worlds we had been into. It felt like a predator assessing its prey. In the distance, jagged, obsidian mountains rose like skeletal claws reaching for the sky.
Our objective: a mythical crystal rumored to lie within the territory of Ymir, a slumbering frost giant said to guard the very essence of winter. Legends spoke of its power to amplify mystical abilities.
"All right, then we should move forward before the cold kills us," my sarcastic remark made them smirk. We marched forward with zealous energy that ran through our veins, hoping to find the crystal that was somewhere around.
Suddenly, the ground trembled. A monstrous creature, a monstrous centipede the size of a bus, lumbered from a crevice, its chitinous shell gleaming under the sickly green light that glowed across the land due to constant aroras. Its mandibles gnashed, dripping a caustic slime.
"Guess introductions are out of the fashion here," Jordan quipped, brandishing his trusty machete with a nervous laugh.
"Parker, you and Layla must move forward and leave this caterpillar to us. We'll join you guys in a bit," Alex joked about the beasts in front of us as he and Jordan planned to slay the creature themselves.
The battle that ensued was a whirlwind of claws, teeth, and desperate dodging. Alex moved forward to strive for the beast with his gleaming blade. Jordan, on the other hand, started shooting arrows at the centipede, trying to target its eyes that would slow the beast down and help them finish it within a few minutes.
"Go for the head," Jordan signaled to Alex as he ran toward the beast, aiming for the head first.
He managed to strike its head while Jordan was on the offensive from the other side, targeting all the limbs of the creatures one by one. They were able to strike the beast down within a few minutes, and with the earth-shaking tremor, the monstrosity collapsed.
"That wasn't hard, was it?" Jordan glanced at Alex, who was cleaning its blade, removing the slime from the dead beast.
"Huh, let's go. We need to catch up with Layla and Parker," Alex gave a smirk and said to Jordan.
Layla and I were on our way to find the territory of the frost giant, who was guarding the red crystal that we needed before we moved forward on this journey. The trek, however, was an endurance test. The wind howled like a banshee, whipping ice crystals into our faces like a million tiny needles. The ground, a treacherous mix of packed snow and jagged rock, was there to test our resilience. As we were looking at the icy mountain that we had to climb to enter the frost giant's territory, Alex and Jordan joined us.
"Huh, quite a mountain," Jordan proclaimed.
"This must be it," Layla said, her voice filled with awe as she gazed upon the shimmering mountain that was shaped like a gleaming crystal. "The key to amplifying your divine essence, Parker."
