"I thought that your people got her under control. We don't need Amelia coming in here screaming about Charlotte." Jason said, rubbing his face.
Dennis raised his green eyes at the man pacing in his office. The police officers took their statements and left, but the event still had the two men concerned about Amelia. "I did, but now we can't touch her. It will look suspicious."
Jason sat down on the sofa near the windows. "Getting Lauren will be a problem with that felon watching her. We need to get rid of him. Your nephew Ambrose needs more girls to satisfy his growing client base. He specifically wanted Lauren."
"Well, I can't do it the legal way. There has to be something or someone in his past that he has a problem with." Dennis explained.
Jason sighed. "I can put out feelers to see if he had any kinds of beef with other gangs."
"I heard that he took courses to further his education in prison. He has put in a resume for the District Manager position for the Konstra Brothers." Dennis said, moving folders on his desk and looking for the Konstra Brothers' numbers.
Jason raised an eyebrow. "You think if we wait, he will leave."
"Yes,"
Jason snorted in anger. "No, he won't leave her behind. He watches her too much."
"Then you have to do something to take his sight off her," Dennis said.
Jason shook his head in disagreement. "He has her scent, as others would say. And she is not going to stay here without him."
"Are you sure about that? I don't think they are that close."
"Lauren is gorgeous and kind. Trace will not pass the chance that a woman like her finds him interesting. We have to take her before he leaves." Jason said.
"That will be messy," Dennis straightened the papers on his desk, still looking for Konstra's Brothers' number.
Jason shook his head. Dennis wanted this business to be clean and friendly to attract women and keep Ambrose Neil in business. He never wanted violence within these walls. Although Jason had seen him hit a couple of the girls they kidnapped, Dennis was a weak man. "You want violence inside this place."
"That would be a way to get rid of him. Our handbook has a fighting clause, and Konstra honors it." Dennis said, smiling.
Jason stood. "Okay, I will see who I can get to help us." He walked towards the door.
Dennis sat back in his chair. "Are you still coming over for dinner?"
Jason turned. "Yes, we have to continue discussing this."
"Why work here?" Trace asked after wiping his mouth. The woman was a masterful chef, making him a sandwich with homemade bread, vegetables, thinly sliced meats, and cheese.
"I did not intend to work here. My best friend Helena Neil and I were attending a hiring event at the mall. I wanted to start my bakery and needed capital. So, I decided to work for an advertising company. She would not let me apply to Parker Industries. She said that it was not a good place to work." Lauren recalled.
Trace frowned. "Did she know about Jason and Mr. Parker?"
Lauren thought back. "No, she did not talk about Parker Industries until that day. Then, after I applied to another business, she disappeared. Her brother, Ambrose, came to me looking for her after about a week. I never heard from the company I applied to at the hiring event. Ambrose said he knew the hiring manager here, and I got the job helping Mr. Parker's secretary with paperwork."
