They looked all over the hospital and couldn't find Eda. "Eda! Where are you?" Lilith called. Eda was crying outside in the rain. All those memories of her and Raine dancing in the rain. Raine twirling Eda around, those were the days when they could just be kids. Enjoying life. "Eda" Lilith called seeing her outside. "Are you crying?". "No I'm fine it's just the rain" Eda insisted. Eda entered the building again. As she approached the room she felt guilt build up in her chest. Raine looked at Eda with a smile on their face, "Come here Eda" Raine demanded not strictly but calmly. Eda walked slowly to the bed Raine laid on and sat down beside them. Raine ran their fingers through her hair. "You're a pretty girl did you know that?" Eda blushed at Raine's statement. "Can you guys give us a minute?" Raine requested. Darius,Perry and Lilith went out of the room to give them some time. "What's on your mind Hermosa?" Raine asked her. Eda hesitated for awhile before asking " Are you going to be ok?". Raine chuckled and brushed some of the hair out of her face "Even if I don't make it, I just want you to know that I will always be there for you". Eda smiled softly at them in return. "Hey Raine, If you don't mind me asking, how did your dad leave?" Raine's smile slowly turned into a frown. "He and my mom got into an argument, apparently my mom claimed he had an affair with another woman, the next morning he was gone just like that"
"Oh" Eda whispered as she laid her head on Raine's shoulder "So how's it in here?". "Well it's kinda fine, the doctors and nurses are kind and funny". "Glad to hear". "Visiting time is over" A nurse came in and said. Eda kissed Raine's forehead and left.
"So what was that about?" Darius asked. "Nothing, let's just go home". Rain tapped on their umbrellas as they walked home. The night was dark and foggy so they could barely see anything. Just then someone took hold on Lilith's wrist. "Hey beautiful could I buy you a drink?" The man asked her. "Yeah, no" Lilith said pulling her hand away. "Well I don't think you have a choice doll" The man said pointing a gun to her head. "She said no" Darius said pointing a gun to his head "Well-" before the man could finish Darius pulled the trigger and he was shot dead. "What the hell Darius!?" Perry exclaimed. Darius kicked the body on the kurb and shot it again "Come on before the police comes" Darius said. Surprised and a bit shaken they continued walking. Darius shoved the gun back in his pocket "Hey Dairy-milk where did you get the gun?" Eda asked. "A valley from some illegal drug seller" Darius responded "And for the last time don't call me Dairy-milk."
After some walking and talking they finally made it home. "Eda, honey I made dinner!" "Thanks mom but I'm not hungry" Eda said walking to her room and slamming the door shut. She put on some comfortable clothes and took up the letters from under her bed. She read one it said:
Happy birthday champ, I'm sorry I couldn't visit you I'm busy with work. Hope you enjoy your day.
Eda threw that letter down and picked up the most recent one.
Sorry for not writing to you for a while now, I'm busy with work.
Eda took them up and put them back under her bed. Confused she laid back and sighed. "Why did Raine's mom do that?, How did Raine not know they have an attic?" Eda groaned as those thoughts surrounded her mind. When everyone fell asleep Eda sneaked out of her window and climbed over in Raine's house. She turned on her flashlight as she walked through their house. To be honest the place looked absolutely disgusting, spiders over the floor dried blood spots over the floor, it gave her shivers down her spine. She checked their mom's room for anything else suspicious. She knew it was illegal to take evidence but she simply didn't care. She searched through her drawers and under her bed and didn't find anything. Just then Eda heared screeching from somewhere in the house. She heard it from upstairs, the attic. She hesitated a bit before climbing up there. "For Raine" She whispered to herself as some form of encouragement. She looked around for a bit ignoring that there was a human head hung on the wall. She found a book that had an engraving marked Album. She opened it they're were mostly pictures of their mother's highschool years. There was something that specifically caught her eye, a picture of a baby boy somewhat resembling Raine. He was born just about a year before Raine. Maybe if she found this boy she could finally make sense of what happened. She took the album and slowly climbed back down the ladder.
Eda climbed back into her room and laid down. She planned to tell her friends about her little idea when she went to school tomorrow. After all, it takes a team to track someone down.
