Amara's POV:

I spotted my cousin Aidan's car in the parking lot, practically bouncing with excitement. Since I was new in town, I had no idea how to use public transport, and my parents were so worried about me getting lost that they wouldn't let me take the bus. Such a hassle! My poor cousin had to drive three hours just to pick me up.

As we hit the road, I couldn't shake thoughts of Blake. There was something about him that felt super familiar, but I couldn't quite figure it out. Honestly, though, who cares? The guy was seriously hot. His jet-black hair looked amazing with that white hoodie and sweatpants—total effortless cool. I couldn't help but smile, daydreaming about all the ways we could connect.

I kept thinking about him all day and night, counting down the minutes until I could get back to university. The next morning, I was up and ready before anyone else, buzzing with excitement while waiting for my dad to drop me off. Their surprised looks didn't bother me—I guess they thought I was just pumped about the new place.

When I walked into the lecture hall, I made a beeline for my usual seat. To my surprise, Blake was already there, leaving the spot next to him empty just for me. Did he want to be close to me too? My heart raced just thinking about it.

Blake's smile sent butterflies fluttering in my stomach. He was glued to his phone, and a little jealousy crept in—who was he texting that had his full attention? But when he finally looked up and saw me, his face lit up, and all my worries vanished.

I settled in, letting out a yawn before the lecture even started. I barely slept the night before, all my thoughts consumed by him. Once the lecture began, I tried to focus, but my gaze kept drifting back to Blake. He seemed so absorbed in his work, totally in his own world.

Blake's POV:

I got to the university earlier than usual, really hoping to catch Amara and chat with her a bit. I knew she usually had her nose buried in her books, so I didn't want to interrupt her during class. But when I got there, I was surprised to find that she wasn't in her usual spot. I took the same seat I had yesterday, thinking she'd come and sit next to me like before.

As I settled in, my phone buzzed with a message from my boss. I was secretly hoping it wasn't another work mission because all I wanted was to hang out with Amara. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't even notice her standing right in front of me with this huge smile on her face until it hit me—she wanted to sit beside me!

I quickly moved my legs out of the way, feeling a jolt of excitement. The lecture started soon after, and we both tried to focus on taking notes. Well, I tried, but I kept sneaking glances at Amara's beautiful face as she concentrated. I couldn't help but wonder if she had gotten a good night's sleep or if something was bothering her.

Then, out of nowhere, I felt something heavy on my shoulder. It was Amara's head! She had dozed off on me, and honestly, it was the cutest thing ever. I could feel the jealous stares and whispers from other girls around us, and even Eliza and Daniel were giggling.

Taking advantage of the moment, I quietly pulled out my phone and snapped a quick picture of her, her hand resting gently on my arm. My heart raced at the simple contact, and I couldn't help but think, could this be love?

Amara stayed like that for a while, and I noticed her grip on my arm tightening. Suddenly, I heard her mumble, "Blakey, who was she? Why did she say your name like that? Do you already have a girlfriend?" I didn't like the way she held onto me when she asked that, and I really wanted to reassure her that I wasn't into anyone else.

Leaning in a bit closer, I whispered in her ear, "Amara, she's not my girlfriend, and honestly, I don't like her calling me that either." I wanted her to know that she was the one on my mind, the only one that mattered.

Amara gasped, her eyes going wide like she was caught off guard. She quickly pulled her hands away from me, her cheeks turning bright red. She cleared her throat, apologized, fixed her hair, and tried to focus back on the lecture. I couldn't help but smile at how cute she was in that moment.

Once she seemed to get her focus back, I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote her a note that said, "Hey Amara, don't worry about those other girls. They don't mean anything to me, but you really do. Can we hang out sometime when you're free?" I slid the note her way, watching her read it. Her confused look quickly turned into a huge smile, and she nodded eagerly, saying, "Why not? I'd love to!"

As the lecture wrapped up, my heart was racing with excitement. Amara's smile was like a light in the room, and I couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something amazing. While she packed her things, I felt butterflies in my stomach. When she glanced back at me, her eyes sparkling with energy, I knew we were in for a fun ride. The thought of our hangout had me buzzing, and I just couldn't wait to dive into whatever this was between us. Every moment with her felt like it could turn into something really special, and I promised myself I'd make it unforgettable.
