Blake's POV
I rushed home, my heart pounding as I changed clothes, trying to shake off the nerves. What if she thought my gesture was sweet, or worse, creepy? Still, I had to see her. I rang the doorbell, my fingers trembling slightly, hoping she was feeling even a little better.
When she opened the door, my heart sank. She looked rough, but even in her state, I couldn't help but smile. I handed her the bouquet of flowers, their vibrant colors a stark contrast to her pallor. "Are you feeling any better?" I asked, my voice softer than I intended.
She blinked, a flicker of confusion crossing her face, as if she were trying to process my sudden appearance. "...Yes... I'm better now," she whispered, a small smile breaking through her pain. But those eyes still held shadows of discomfort.
"Oh, I also brought you something else." I reached into my bag, pulling out a package of pads. Her brow furrowed in surprise, then she laughed softly. "How did you know?"
I shrugged playfully, a secretive grin on my face. "That's classified information."
Her eyes sparkled with curiosity as I revealed a bar of Dairy Milk chocolate. "And this? My favorite! How did you know?"
"Another secret," I replied, enjoying the game. She scrutinized me, a mock suspicion in her gaze. "Hmm, okay."
Then, her expression shifted as she spotted the heating pad. "Do I really look that bad?" she asked, a hint of embarrassment creeping into her voice.
I chuckled lightly, trying to ease her discomfort. "No, not bad—just... in need of a little pampering."
Her laughter was genuine this time, and it warmed my heart. "Thank you for all of this. It really means a lot."
"I'm just glad you like it," I replied, feeling a rush of relief. "I wanted to make sure you were taken care of, even if it's just a little bit."
The atmosphere shifted, a comfortable silence settling between us. I took a step closer, my heart racing. "Do you want to watch a movie or something? I could help distract you from all this..." I gestured lightly to the mess of tissues and blankets around her.
Her eyes brightened, a spark of excitement breaking through her earlier fatigue. "That sounds perfect!"
As we settled into her cozy living room, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was the beginning of something special.
Amara's POV
I led Blake into the living room, still a bit puzzled about how he figured out I was on my period. His gesture was sweet; he had brought everything I needed, including my favorite chocolate and some beautiful flowers.
As I glanced at the pile of tissues beside me, I felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me. I hoped I wouldn't have a mood swing in front of him.
When we started selecting a movie, I noticed he was gravitating toward comedies. He must have picked up on the tissues and guessed that I might be the emotional type during this time.
He finally settled on the latest *Descendants* film, *The Rise of Red*. I had loved the entire series, starting from the very first movie. I couldn't help but wonder how he knew that. How did he find out so much about me? Oh, right—I should ask for his contact information.
He was focused on the screen when I playfully called out, "Blakeyyy." He shot me a frown; I knew he disliked that nickname. But when I giggled, his expression softened into a smile. "Yes, Amaryyy?" he replied.
I laughed, "Haha, Amary doesn't sound quite as nice." He shrugged. "It is what it is. Did you want to ask me something?"
"Um... yes, actually. I wanted your number," I said, suddenly feeling shy.
"Amara, you really don't know how to flirt, do you? You can't just ask for a guy's number like that." I felt my face turn red. "I... I..." My stomach fluttered. "Actually, I wanted to tell you that I can't come to university in the morning, but I didn't have your contact, so I couldn't let you know."
"Oh, that's it? Here I was thinking you were flirting with me," he smirked.
"No!" I replied, managing a small smile. "Give me your phone, then."
I handed him my phone, and he quickly added his number, naming himself "Future Husband." He winked as he handed it back. Does he like me?
Blake's POV
After reading what I named myself, I could tell she was getting shy, trying to make it less embarrassing as I started the movie. While we watched, I noticed her shivering, so I got up and grabbed a blanket from the other room. She got cozy under it and rested her head on my shoulder. I couldn't wait to propose to her and talk to her family; I really wanted her to be my wife!
Everything was going smoothly until the Queen of Hearts scene came up, and tears started streaming down her face. What do I do? With Eliza, Daniel and I would always tickle her and make funny faces, but Amara was different. I could tell she was really feeling it.
I hugged her and gently caressed her back. "It's okay, don't cry," I said. She replied, "I know it's okay, but I don't know why I'm crying." I couldn't imagine how tough that must be, not being able to control your emotions. "You can stay like this if you want," I offered, and she nodded, resting her head back on my shoulder. "Thank you," she whispered as I caressed her cheek and smiled.
Just like that, she fell asleep. I glanced at the clock and realized her family would be back soon. I carefully picked her up and carried her to a room. I wasn't sure which one was hers, but I spotted a purple wall and a picture of her with her parents on the bedside table. Guess I got lucky!
I didn't want to leave, but I knew she needed her rest. I set everything I brought and a cup of warm water next to her. After I slipped out I texted, "I hope I made your day a bit better. If you need anything, just text me and I'll be right back. See you soon and I can't wait to see that beautiful smile again."
