It was wrong, wrong to want to escape and especially wrong to act on that want but that's exactly what Astrid Delna did, she couldn't deal with the constant fear that she felt in that house, constantly having to make them believe her.

Believe, believe, believe.

Thats a rule she lived by now, if they believe you, you would survive.

As a kid she was terrified of forgetting a rule they had made her write 1000 times before, not for the obvious reason of sinning and upsetting there god, but for the consequences she would be dealt and therefore had learned to remember them all.

The hours spent in the cold 'pure' water, burning out Lilith sealed her determination following their rules and created her freaky memory abilities.

Lilith was evil,  She was what they hated. The cult was ran from there demented fake beliefs that Lilith was a demon jumping from soul to soul of innocent women and the only way to protect yourself was to follow said rules.

Astrid wished Lilith would take her soul.

In fact she no longer prayed to the cults God. Instead, the 12 year old prayed to the demon, pleading for solace demanding she come for her.

It was dark and the hallway outside her room was silent beside the ticking of the clock across from her door.

Tomorrow was her 15th birthday and she knew what that meant.

Coming of age was a big deal in this family and the tradition was a large ritual.

She would be given a choice of 3 women.

Which one would you like to kill? Thats what they would ask.

"Lilith has taken over their souls sweetheart, they must be killed. Don't you understand?"

She recalls her mother's worried tone when she had asked 'why', as if what she had asked was crazy and forbidden.

Those women hadn't been cursed or taken over like they told her, they had been kidnapped and abused by the cult she was born into and if she couldn't get out tonight then she was going to make sure she didn't wake up the next morning.

Her feet were light against the floorboards she had cleaned earlier that day, the practiced precision of where to place her feet, knowing exactly where would squeak and where wouldn't.

Once she had made it towards the window she had conveniently left open and thrown out her bag filled with one change of clothes, and any money she could find, she took a deep breath giving her home one last look around before throwing herself out and running until she couldn't any longer.
