I recently went to a shrine and got a thread—*mannat ka dhaga*, to be exact. When it came time to wish, I pondered what to ask,
And I thought of you, my heart’s hidden task. I wished for your peace and longed for a chance,
To meet one last time, to talk and to dance. To understand why you left, why you’re gone,
But I know such a prayer might be too far drawn. So, I made a second wish, simple yet true:
If you can't find me, I hope love finds you.Someone who warms the coldest of nights,
Who makes your heart sing and sets your soul alight. I promised myself that if I saw you with another,
I’d cut this thread, knowing someone could love you better.I tied the bright string ‘round my wrist, so tight,
The orange and red clashed with my blue in the night. As I drifted to sleep, thoughts of you swirled,
The weight of this love felt heavy, unfurled. But I loosened the knot, hoping one day,
This love would grow soft and slip gently away,
For the burden is much, and I long to be free,
From a thread that reminds me of what used to be.
