The air was thick with dust and the acrid scent of stone. Y/n Lang crouched in the shadows of the crumbling building, the echo of the Titan attack still ringing in their ears. A deep rumble vibrated through the ground, shaking the very walls around them. Panic surged in Y/n's chest as they rushed toward the remnants of what used to be their home.
“Mom! Dad!” Y/n called out, voice cracking. The dust settled like a thick veil, obscuring their vision.
A few moments later, they stumbled into the room where their parents had been. Debris lay strewn across the floor, but the sight that met Y/n’s eyes sent their heart plummeting. A massive boulder had crushed the entrance to the basement, and their parents were trapped beneath it.
“Y/n!” Their father, Erik, grunted, his voice strained. “Get out of here! We’ll be fine! You have to go!”
“No!” Y/n shouted, tears stinging their eyes. “I won’t leave you!”
“We don’t have time for this!” Clara, their mother, urged. “You have to survive! There’s more to this than you know.”
Confusion clouded Y/n's thoughts. “What do you mean? What’s going on?”
“Just… trust us,” Erik said, wincing as he shifted slightly under the weight of the boulder. “Go to the attic. You’ll find what you need there.”
Y/n felt a rush of determination mixed with despair. “I won’t leave you!”
“Y/n!” Clara’s voice cut through the chaos. “Listen! Find the truth about the Langs. It’s in the attic. You have to go now!”
With a heavy heart, Y/n nodded, realizing they had no choice. They turned, forcing their legs to move, the promise of survival pushing them forward. As they ascended the narrow staircase, the weight of their parents’ words hung heavily in the air.
The attic was dimly lit, beams of sunlight streaming through cracks in the roof. Dust motes danced in the air as Y/n rifled through boxes and old furniture, searching for answers. Finally, they stumbled upon an old, dusty chest in the corner.
With trembling hands, Y/n opened it, revealing a collection of letters, old photographs, and a faded journal. As they skimmed through the pages, revelations began to unfold. The letters hinted that “Lang” was not their true last name; it was a name chosen to protect their family. Secrets of their lineage, tales of resistance against Titans, and a map leading to a safe haven filled the pages.
“Y/n!” a voice called from outside, breaking their concentration.
They turned to see Eren, Mikasa, and Armin standing at the entrance of the house, urgency painted on their faces.
“Come on! We have to go!” Mikasa urged, glancing back nervously. “More Titans are coming!”
Y/n grabbed the journal and the map, shoving them into their satchel before racing toward their friends. “My parents—”
“We’ll find a way back for them,” Armin promised, determination in his voice. “But right now, we need to get to the boat.”
They fled the house just as the ground shook again, dust and debris falling from above. Y/n could feel the weight of their parents’ fate pressing on their heart, but the need to survive pushed them forward.
As they ran, Eren led the way, his determination palpable. The group navigated through the chaos, dodging falling debris and escaping the impending doom of the Titans. Y/n focused on the map, heart racing, thinking of the truths hidden in their lineage that could change everything.
Finally, they reached the dock where a small boat bobbed in the water, the ocean waves glistening under the fading sunlight. The sound of roaring Titans echoed in the distance, but for the moment, they were safe.
