The sun rose over the training grounds, casting long shadows that danced across the earth. Y/n stood at the edge of the field, watching as their friends prepared for another day of intense training. The air was thick with anticipation, the promise of progress hanging over the recruits like a cloud. Today was significant—today would be their final evaluation, the moment that would determine their future with the Survey Corps.

Y/n spotted Mikasa, her dark hair pulled back into a tight braid as she practiced her maneuvers with precision. Each movement was graceful and deliberate, a testament to her relentless dedication. Eren, standing nearby, watched her with a fierce intensity, his expression a mix of admiration and something else—something darker.

As Y/n approached, Eren’s gaze flickered between them, a shadow crossing his face. “You ready for today?” he asked, attempting to sound casual, but there was a tension in his voice that didn’t go unnoticed.

“Yeah, I think so,” Y/n replied, forcing a smile. “Just want to give it my all.”

Mikasa turned, her eyes brightening as she saw Y/n. “You’ve got this. We’ve trained hard. Just remember everything we practiced.”

Eren shifted slightly, crossing his arms over his chest, an action that did little to hide his unease. “You both have a natural advantage. Just stick together, and you’ll be fine.”

“Right,” Y/n said, glancing at Mikasa, who seemed oblivious to Eren’s tension. “We’ll watch each other’s backs.”

As the morning wore on, the training session commenced, and the recruits were divided into teams. Y/n found themselves paired with Mikasa, a choice that Eren clearly didn’t appreciate. He was placed with Armin, his frustration palpable as he struggled to focus on his own drills while keeping an eye on Y/n and Mikasa.

“Why do they have to be so close all the time?” Eren muttered under his breath, watching as Mikasa helped Y/n with their ODM gear, her touch light and encouraging.

“Eren,” Armin said cautiously, “you know they’re just friends. Y/n needs support, especially with the final evaluation coming up.”

“Yeah, but it feels like… I don’t know, like she’s more focused on Y/n than me,” Eren replied, unable to mask the jealousy in his voice.

Armin sighed, knowing this conversation was headed in a familiar direction. “You need to trust her, Eren. Mikasa cares about you both. She’s just being a good friend.”

As the drills continued, Y/n and Mikasa seamlessly executed their maneuvers, swinging through the air with a fluidity that left the other recruits in awe. Eren watched, a mix of admiration and irritation brewing within him. He had always felt a protective instinct toward Mikasa, and seeing her grow closer to Y/n was stirring feelings he couldn’t quite understand.

“Nice work, Y/n!” Mikasa called out, her eyes sparkling with encouragement as Y/n successfully navigated a particularly tricky move.

“Thanks! You make it look easy,” Y/n replied, their heart racing not just from the thrill of the exercise, but from Mikasa’s praise. There was something about her support that made them feel invincible.

Eren clenched his jaw, watching as Mikasa wrapped an arm around Y/n’s shoulder, a gesture of camaraderie that sent a jolt of jealousy through him. “Hey, let’s keep the focus on the drills!” he called out, attempting to break the moment.

Mikasa turned to Eren, her expression shifting slightly. “We are focused, Eren. Y/n is doing great.”

“I just meant—” Eren started, but Armin interrupted him.
