Parents were panicking , it didn't matter if they were the richest or smartest. The fact that the Jaeyul group was being inspected was worrying enough and even more so because the media was shredding them apart. Videos were being leaked, photos and even documents. Burying the company deeper and deeper into the ground.
You sat at home in your house library , your parents sat in their respective seats as they read their own books. Your mother opted for non fiction like she always did and your father sat reading a historical fiction.
"Aren't you both worried?" You asked putting your book down and bothered by their silence.
"About what?" Your mother asked.
"The downfall of the Jaeyul group. Aren't you afraid we could be next?" You asked , looking at them seriously. But neither of them seemed to even be stressed a fraction of the amount you were.
"The Jaeyul group dug their own grave. They got too involved in everything they shouldn't have, this only happens to those who don't understand their limits." Your dad sighed, putting his book down and lifting his glasses off of his face.
"So you're not afraid? Not even you mum?" You looked at her.
"Sweetie, I may be the principal of Jooshin but I'm not Jooshin. Not any more. So even if the school gets pulled into it all we are in the clear." Your mum smiled at you.
"So you'd let auntie take the fall?" You asked.
"If it's her wrongdoings , why should I take the fall for her?" She proposed.
"Y/n, your grandfather always told me this when I grew up. We're Lim's , we stay in our lane and we do our work and we do it well. That is why we are Lim's." Your father said to you.
"So you don't want to help anyone out? Not even family?" You asked, making sure you were understanding them.
"Think about this. If Rian was to murder someone, would you claim to be the guilty?" He said so calmly, not giving you a second to question his words as he got back to reading.
You just looked at the two of them a little longer. You weren't surprised they were distancing themselves, they always did this. Your grandfather was the exact same, always preaching that as we succeed we aren't only representing our family but also our business. It was respectable but it also felt cowardly. You weren't a weak family, in fact you were one with some of the highest respect in the continent but hiding felt weak. It made you feel something inside that you weren't pleased by.
At school you walked into the lounge to see Rian with a news broadcast of the recent updates on the Jaeyul scandal. It was just revealed to the public Jaei's mother was in fact someone else to the supposed to her fathers wife , aka Jaehyeoks mother.
"At least they're not being horrible to Jaei." You said sitting down.
"Someone's done this, out of revenge." Rian said watching the screen. "It's impossible for the press to get this much information so quickly, it's all been leaked."
"What are you trying to claim?" You asked as you sat down next to him.
"Maybe Kang Ha was worse than we thought." He glanced at you but you hesitated to give any reaction.
"Or maybe he's a blessing in disguise." You offered your cousin an alternative. "Think about it, Jaei is free now that both her brother and abusive father are out of the way."
"They've opened cases against not only the Jaeyul group but him as a man, he won't get out of this without at least a decade sentence and the business destroyed." Rian kept his focus on the news report.
