Episode 16- When A Monster Isn't A Monster

Bucky stepped closer in confusion. His confusion quickly turned into realization, once Steve's eyes darkened.

"Sorry," Steve muttered, quickly looking away.

"You're a vampire," Bucky whispered.

"Not exactly. He is currently in transition. He hasn't drank any blood yet," Elijah said.

"I was waiting for you to come home," Steve said.

"Why were you waiting for me? You need blood to survive," Bucky said.

Steve trailed his finger over Bucky's hand. His breath seemed to slow down.

"Steve," Bucky said, bringing him back to awareness.

"You're my fiance. I wasn't sure if you'd want to marry a vampire," Steve said.

Steve intertwined his fingers with Bucky.

"I needed to know if you still wanted me," Steve finished.

"I'm surprised you have to ask. Of course, I still want you," Bucky said.

"Even like this," Steve asked, the veins around his eyes darkening again.

He let go of Bucky's hand and stepped back.

"I mean, I'm not even human anymore," Steve reasoned, "Would you really marry a monster?"

Bucky grabbed his hand again.

"Monster or not, I still want this. I want you. Okay? We'll figure this out together," Bucky said.

Steve looked away from him while clenching his jaw.

"I could hurt you, Buck."

"I'm aware of the risks. Look at me," Bucky commanded.

Steve slowly turned his gaze back to him.

"You fought for me when I was past saving. You gave me a chance and loved me," Bucky said, "Let me do the same for you."

"I don't," Steve started, shaking his head.

"You are still Steve. And I still love you," Bucky said.

Steve let out a breath of relief. Or Bucky assumed it was relief.

He leaned in, kissing Bucky. Steve's lips trailed down to his neck.

He could hear Bucky's pulse pumping. His eyes darkened again. A pressure behind his gums released.
