Side Note:
So it's like 2017. It's been like a fuck tonne of time. But I signed into my old email and was overwhelmed with all the messages and stuff and I was like you know what I should try finish this. So imma finish it. Here is the last chapter.

You're welcome.
(And thank you all)
(TW: blood, car accident, death)

Dan's POV:

The last thing Dan remembered was the car hitting him.

Okay well no. He doesn't actually remember the car hitting him. But he does remember looking up from his phone just as a car was speeding towards him. He remembers hearing the tyres skidding. He remembers bracing himself for the impact.

Only the impact never came.

He tried to get his bearings. He slowly opened his eyes to find himself lying on his back, blue cloudless sky meeting his eyes. He sat up slowly and hear someone say "he's awake!" In the distance.

Suddenly a pair of arms were around him and he could hear someone whispering "oh thank god, oh my god you scared me so much I could've have lost you both".
Dan recognised the voice instantly. Phil. God the car must have hit him otherwise Phil wouldn't have been this worried, right?

He pushed Phil away.
"What happened?" He asked, looking around and that's when he saw her. Sprawled out like an angel. Blood gathered around, no. No. No. This wasn't happening.

"Phil.." His voice broke. "Is that.. Emmy..??"

Phil shut his eyes. Tears streaming down his face.

"Yes. The ambulance is on the way. That car was about to hit you. It should have hit you. But somehow, Emmy got you out of the way and took the hit. Chris saw the whole thing. Said she moved so quickly... like she wasn't even human..."

Emmy saved my life.

Emmy.
The new girl.

It wasn't fair. She was new here. She was so kind. She had tried to help Dan fix things with Phil. She had gotten close with Anni. She had been such a fresh face in this shit hole and now she was lying on the ground surrounded in her own blood because of him.

"Don't you dare blame yourself." Phil whispered, like he was in Dan's head.
"This is nobody's fault. The driver, some junior, lost control of his car. It was an accident Dan."

"Okay.." Dan muttered weakly.

*timey wimey skippy thing

When we told Anni, she bawled. We expected her to. She said she'd meet us at the hospital.

The ambulance had arrived shortly after Phil had told Dan what had happened. They gave all the students a number to call if they needed support. Then just like that Emmy was whisked away.

PJ offered to drive them to the hospital. They all sat in silence on the way. Too afraid to speak in case someone might cry. Dan wanted to cry. He wanted to curl into Phils arms and sob. He never wanted to let go.

But he couldn't do that.

When they arrived at the hospital, Anni was waiting for them. Tears still in her eyes. She hugged each of them. There had been no word on Emmy yet. So they waited.

And waited.

And waited.

Until finally a nurse came out.

"Em excuse me, are any of you related to Emmy here?"

They all shook their heads. "Is she going to be okay??" Anni asked.

"That information right now is reserved for family members which we cannot seem to locate. She also appears to have no last name. We are not even sure her real name is Emmy to be quiet honest."

Dan let that information sink in. Had she been lying to them the whole time?? Did that matter? At this point she just wanted to know if she was okay or not. This was killing him.

"Look we don't know her family. She's the new girl at our school but trust me, she means the world to us. Please tell us what you know." Dan begged.

The nurse looked at the ground and sighed lightly.
"I'm afraid it isn't looking too good. We can't seem to find any blood to match, and she lost a lot. We aren't sure if she will make it but our doctors are doing their best. I'm sorry."

And with that she walked away.

*few days later*

The funeral was more of a celebration of her. That's how she would have wanted it. She was this big bright bubbly soul with sparkly shoes. She didn't deserve to go out with everyone sobbing.

Well they did sob. Dan did at least. Phil cried too. They all did. Anni was the worst though.

It was sweet however. They all shared their few but fond memories of her. They recited her first day, that embarrassing entrance, Dan's attempts to hit on her.

Through the whole thing, Phil was by Dan's side. Holding his hand. Wiping away stray tears. Hugging him when it got too much. He wouldn't have made it through without Phil. I guess he had Emmy to thank for that.

"Thank you." Dan whispered as they finally buried her. "For showing me the eyes I never saw."

Life was difficult after that but eventually things got easier. Dan and Phil moved in together in this shitty little apartment. Anni found herself the right girl. Chris and PJ stayed Chris and PJ.

After a month Dan felt okay. After two months Dan felt like he could breathe.

Suddenly a year went by and Emmy was almost like a dream. Sometimes Dan questioned if she ever really existed.

Phil and him were happy.

Nothing was out of the ordinary.

Until one day Dan received a text from a number he didn't have saved. The number looked familiar though.

He opened the text and there was a photo of him and Phil. Smiling as they looked into each other's eyes. It looked like it was taken ages ago. Dan still had an emo fringe. So.. last year maybe? Weird.

Underneath read:

"Never loose those eyes Dan.

Love your guardian angel."
