Ch 8: Mt. Bristle

Team Friendship went back to the guild. They climbed down the hutch, then the ladder, and saw Buddy at the Outlaw Notice Board. Buddy noticed them at the same time.

"Hey, guys. Are you three all set and ready to do a job?" he asked.

"As ready as can be," said Elyon. Pattie and Blazie nodded.

"All righty, then, let's pick a lawbreaker for you three."

"No one too scary," reminded Blazie.

"Right. Let's see now..."

Suddenly, a rumbling sound started. A loud voice came from the other side of the board. "Stand clear! Updating listings! Updating listings!"

"Uh, what's going on here?" Pattie asked.

"Oh, the data's just getting updated," said Buddy, a bemused smile on his face.

"Updated?" Pattie, Blazie, and Elyon asked at the same time.

The bulletin board flipped over.

The girls jumped in surprise. "Whoa!"

"Did you see that?! The panel flipped over!" Elyon exclaimed.

"Both of the boards are set on revolving panels. While the panels are flipped over, Diglen swaps out old jobs with new ones," Buddy explained.

"You mean Dug's dad?" Blazie inquired.

"Exactly. Diglen's job here at the guild is to update the listings. He tunnels his way underground throughout the guild, then flips the panels and updates them. This duty isn't noticed much, but it's still very important, yup yup! Diglen takes pride in what he does."

"Updates completed! Updates completed! Stand clear!"

The rumbling started up again. "Looks like he's done," said Buddy.

The panel flipped back over.

"Now that the list of outlaws has been refreshed, let's pick one out for you."

However, before Buddy could start looking, Blazie began shaking, and she pointed at the board. Pattie, Elyon, and Buddy all looked at her curiously.

"Blazie?"

"The poster on the top left," Blazie said shakily. "Look at it!"

Pattie and Elyon took a look at the poster. They both gasped.

"Drowzee! He's a wanted criminal!" shrieked Elyon.

Pattie turned to Blazie and Elyon. "We have to hurry! Azurill will be in big trouble!"

The three quickly ran back up the ladder, leaving behind a bewildered Buddy.

Outside of the guild, Pattie, Blazie, and Elyon saw Matt right near the signboard that told the exploration teams which direction to go.

"Matt!"

Matt turned around at the sound of Elyon's voice. He ran towards her, Pattie, and Blazie. They saw that Matt had a worried look set on his face.

"Matt, what's the matter?" asked Blazie. "Where are Azurill and Drowzee?"

"After we all left, we went looking for our lost item together," Matt started to explain. "But I wound up all alone when Mr. Drowzee went somewhere with Azurill. I kept calling out to them, but they didn't come back, and I got scared...."

"Which way did they go?" Elyon asked.

"Towards Mt. Bristle. Follow me!"
