cassie baulks, "you want me to fake-date lando nowins?"
tate gives the 23 year-old popstar an exasperated look. "lando norris, yes. don't be rude. and i thought you didn't follow formula 1 — how do you know that nickname?"
"jenny watches," cassie offers an explanation, only slightly chastised. she draws her dark windbreaker more tightly around her frame as the cool english breeze hits her. "gabs and i like to make fun of her, so we make fun of the drivers she likes. and i keep up sometimes for lance, too."
tate sighs. "well, i suggest you call jenny up and learn all about it, because you're going to be dating lando norris very soon."
cassie makes a face - how could this be happening to her? "is management actually being for real about this?"
"yes," tate says in a clipped tone. "your reputation is in the dumps. i told you this already - the public needs to believe that you're serious and mature. and it doesn't help that your last album was released a while ago—"
"it's only been a year and it's hard to write!" cassie excuses lamely, knowing that it was true.
'555' had come out in 2022; a good two years ago, back when she was still dating wes. after the horrible breakup, it had been radio silence from her. she'd gone to a few shows to support her friends, but that was about it. other than that, it was all extravagant vacations and long nights clubbing and trying to forget everything that had happened.
