A soft voice, familiar and soothing, whispered to Yoko in the darkness. "Wake up now, darling. Someone is waiting for you. Mommy can only accompany you this long." It was like a warm breeze, fleeting but full of love. The comfort in that voice pulled her back, drawing her toward consciousness, and her eyes fluttered open.

Pain seeped into her awareness, a dull ache that settled deep in her muscles. Everything felt heavy, and a shadow of fear threatened to pull her back into darkness. She hesitated, eyes half-closed, afraid that if she opened them fully, she'd find herself trapped in the nightmare again. But then, a warm, steady arm wrapped around her waist, its touch grounding and reassuring. A promise that she was safe.

Her gaze shifted, taking in the familiar space, the rich, dark wood of Faye's room, the gentle scent of jasmine in the air. Yoko's heartbeat steadied as her eyes fell on Faye, who lay beside her, eyes closed, an arm protectively curled around her. She looked exhausted, dark circles shadowing her usually sharp eyes. Yoko's throat tightened, and she whispered, testing her voice, "Faye... Faye..."

Faye's eyes snapped open, wide and frantic until they focused on Yoko. Relief flooded her expression, raw and overwhelming. "Oh God, you're awake," Faye breathed, the words tumbling out in a rush. "You're awake. Yes, love. Does it hurt? Where does it hurt? I'm here, I'm here. Let me call the doctor—" She was rambling, the worry in her voice a sharp contrast to her usual composed demeanor.

Yoko's lips trembled, and she shook her head weakly. "I'm not hurt... I'm scared. No doctor, please," she whispered, eyes pleading.

Faye's arms tightened instinctively, holding Yoko closer. She shifted, propping herself up on her elbow to look down at Yoko, eyes brimming with emotion she could no longer suppress. "I'm here now," she said, voice low and shaking. "No one is going to hurt you ever again." The weight of her worry slipped through the cracks as a tear rolled down her cheekz

"Why... why did you run away? I was so worried."

Yoko's heart splintered at the sight of Faye's tears, a rare and startling display. The realization that she had caused this—the worry, the sleepless nights—was suffocating. She reached up, her fingers brushing Faye's face, feeling the damp warmth of her tears.

"I... I just wanted to figure my feelings out alone. I didn't want to be a burden..." Her voice caught, and the guilt that had been festering inside her broke free in a silent sob. "I'm sorry."

Faye shook her head, a bittersweet smile forming even as more tears gathered. "No, don't say sorry. I am. I pushed you too far. I—"

"No," Yoko interrupted, her voice a whisper, shaking her head. "You didn't. I just... wanted to be sure of what I felt. I was scared."

Faye brushed her thumb gently across Yoko's cheek, silencing her. "Shh, we'll figure this out slowly, together. For now, you need to get better." Her voice softened, and a small, tender smile curved her lips.

"Can I draw you a warm bath? You need to feel comfortable."

Relief coursed through Yoko, and for the first time in days, a smile, tentative but real, touched her lips. "Yes, please. I don't feel good."

Faye's touch lingered on Yoko's face, soft and reverent, as if grounding them both. "Of course, love. I'll take care of everything."

As Faye stood to draw the bath, Yoko watched her, feeling a warmth bloom in her chest despite the pain. Maybe, just maybe, she could get used to being cared for this way. The nightmare was fading, replaced by the quiet promise in Faye's eyes: that she would always be there.
