Andy's POV
The crisp wind screams in my face covering my whole body in goosebumps. I yell at myself in my head regretting that I didn't bring a bigger coat to school. I'm my defence it was not this cold this morning.
I sit on the bleachers a few feet away from the field that lines the huge grassy area. I take out my snack and book ignoring the world around me. This time is the only time I look forward to during school hours.
I flip the page as I feel the bleachers lightly shake. I look up and see Liz (my number one favorite human to ever exist) running towards me.
She sits down and wraps her arms around me squeezing tightly "hiiii" she squeals. I smile at her introduction. "Hi, Liz" she lets go and steals the grape from my hand plopping it into her mouth.
"I feel like I haven't seen you at all today" she speaks whilst opening up her bag, and too, taking out her book.
"I saw you ten minutes ago, Liz" I say in response
"Yeah but that was from afar, if I don't get to hug you like a crazy cat women hugs her cats then it doesn't count" I laugh once again and agree with her. "What an interesting viewpoint"
"So, how are you today?" She asks losing her smile. I swallow the grape in my mouth a little too fast before speaking.
"I'm okay" I say not making eye contact "how are you?"
"I'm really good, thank you for asking" my heart flutters a little knowing how she's feeling. If she's happy I'm happy.
She takes out a fruit bowl from her bag and I quickly steal a strawberry shoving it in my mouth, before she can protest I've already swallowed it.
She picks up another one and hands it to me. "I brought theses for you"
My chest sinks a little at her words. "Why's that?" I ask taking the other strawberry from her hands.
"Because you love them and I love you, it's that simple"
My heart dances in my chest which visibly shows on my face. "Thank you, you didn't have to do that"
"I'd grow a whole strawberry field for you if I wasn't so lazy" a laugh escapes my throat "the thing that's scary about that is if I did ask you to do that you'd do it anyway"
"Why's that scary" she asks opening her book
"I don't know, you do so much for me I guess it's just weird to have someone care about me that much"
"I'd be crazy not to"
We finish our lunches and head back to school. As we get to the front doors I see Ethan leaning against his car talking with his friends (iconic) I stop in my tracks and bump into the person in front of me. "Shit sorry" they look back and roll their eyes before continuing walking.
I regain my attention and start walking again. "What the hell was that!?" Liz says
"What was what?" I say nonchalantly
"Andy, don't play games. Who were you looking at?"
"I wasn't looking at someone, I saw a car that I liked and lost my attention"
Liz lets out a low laugh and looks at me like I'm stupid "what?" I say clearly knowing.
"Andy I think you'd rather die than pay any attention to cars. Do you really think I'm THAT gullible?"
