As the sun’s rays warmed her room, Yuvika found herself clutching her phone again, staring at the last message he had sent her. Her thoughts drifted back to the night before—the thrill, the danger, the way he looked at her, as if she were the only person in the world.
She felt her pulse quicken. Despite her best efforts, she knew she was beginning to crave the unknown. There was something exhilarating about him, about the way he appeared and disappeared, leaving her with only cryptic words and unanswered questions.
Just as she was lost in her thoughts, her phone buzzed again, pulling her back to the present.
Stalker: Did you miss me?
A faint smile touched her lips, her fingers hovering over the screen as she typed a reply.
Yuvika: Maybe a little.
There was a pause before his next message arrived.
Stalker: I’ll take that as a yes. You should get used to it, Yuvika. The world may seem brighter, but shadows always linger.
She shook her head, amused and slightly unsettled. His words had an allure, a kind of dark poetry that both terrified and fascinated her.
Yuvika: You talk in riddles. Why don’t you just tell me who you are?
His reply came almost immediately.
Stalker: Would it matter? You’re already drawn in, whether you know my name or not.
Her heart skipped a beat, his words seeping into her mind. He was right. Despite her questions, her doubts, she was drawn to him in ways she couldn’t explain.
She sat back, staring at her screen, caught between caution and curiosity.
After a long pause, she finally typed her response, choosing her words carefully.
Yuvika: Maybe. But it would still help me understand you. I want to know why you chose me.
The screen remained still, the three little dots blinking as if he were hesitating. Just when she thought he might not reply, his response appeared.
Stalker: You’re different, Yuvika. You have a light that others don’t see… but I do. And sometimes, the darkest shadows are drawn to the brightest lights.
A chill ran through her, and yet, there was a strange warmth in his words. He seemed to see right through her—something no one else had ever done. She wanted to deny it, to push him away, but something inside her was pulling her closer.
Yuvika: Then show yourself. I’m not afraid of shadows.
Another pause. She could almost feel his presence through the screen, as if he were standing just beyond her sight.
Stalker: Soon. But not yet. Until then, trust me. Can you do that?
She stared at his words, her mind racing. Could she trust him? Did she even know him well enough to make that choice?
But her heart whispered the answer before her mind could argue.
Yuvika: Yes.
There was no response, just the quiet satisfaction of her own admission. She locked her phone and gazed out the window, feeling a strange sense of peace and anticipation.
As the silence settled around her, Yuvika felt an unfamiliar warmth fill her chest. Trusting someone she’d never even seen felt irrational, yet there was something undeniable about the connection she felt. It was as if he saw the parts of her she kept hidden from the world.
The next few days were a blend of restlessness and curiosity. She found herself glancing at her phone more often, hoping for a message, a sign, anything that would bring him closer to her. And each time the screen lit up, her pulse quickened with a mix of excitement and dread.
