It had been a year since the first few gladers had come out and they had established rules to stay in order within the glade. Alby ran the place as the leader, keeping everyone in check with newt as his second in command. Y/n had become a runner, but second to Minho, the keeper. They had made groups and keepers and everyone would have to work to earn their place in the glade.

As Minho turned the next corner of the maze with y/n right behind, they suddenly heard a sound ahead of them. "Was that.. a Greiver..?" Spoke y/n quietly "it can't be, not in the daytime at least" she added. Minho quietly listened hoping to figure out what the noise was. "HELP!" A voice called. A familiar voice. Minho turned to face y/n with a shocked expression. They knew this voice, it was all-too familiar.

Y/n dashed forward as Minho kept up with her, both hoping they didn't find who they thought they would find. Please oh please.. don't let it be him. Y/n prayed to herself as she dashed around the last wall.

Y/n slowed her pace as she found herself in front of newt. He was laid on the floor, his leg stuck in the vines. She couldn't look at his leg it was too horrifying. His face was scrunched up, clearly in pain. She quickly crouched down beside him, careful to not make any mistakes. "MINHO HELP ME UNTANGLE THE VINES" she shouted. He knelt down on the other side of newt and took a look at his leg. It was snapped in three different places and a bone sticking out of one place. Newt gave a nervous chuckle to y/n as she looked at him in worry. "Newt.." she couldn't bear seeing him in pain. "Alright I'm going to have to put it back in place" she whispered to Minho quietly "distract him".

As y/n took his leg in her hand carefully Minho stuttered trying to come up with something to say. "You.. uh.. today Ben was running a lap around the glade and uhm he tripped and face planted into the grass.. you should have been there it was soo funny" Minho rambled about random things that happened. Newt strained a smile as he suddenly felt a jolt of pain through his body, his eyes tearing as he tried to not scream. "We have to get you back" y/n said as she untangled the rest of the vines and helped pick newt up with Minho. "Your gonna be okay" Minho whispered to newt.

He will be... right?
