VIGILANTE: Pixel Cat

4. Working together

Time: 8:20 am

Wade got to work with 10 minutes to spare, but he came in with a sore arm thanks to a previous battle against the Quadrant bank robbers and the purple bleeder.

Luckily, Pixel stayed where Wade's brain was and made sure to stay out of sight due to the duo keeping their secret identity safe.

Wade worked for the company as a cleaner, making sure that no living bacterium fungi or virus escaped from the wrath of the cleaning products used to keep the offices clean and hygienic.

As Wade was nearly into dusting the room, the door opened to let out two things. One was his boss, Mr Derek, and an artificial person who looked unnatural.

Mr Derek was looking said like his wife told him that she wanted to deforced him. He does have a wife, but their relationship was fine.

Mr Derek: "Good morning, Wade."

Wade just finished the dusting before he turned and, with a friendly face and tone and said, "Good morning, Mr Derek, you need anything?"

Mr Derek sighed.

Mr Derek: "Unfortunately for the both of us, we have been having high costs and low profits."

Wade turned from cheerfully to a worried expression!

Wade: "Oh no! That means..."

Mr Derek: "That we had to declare bankruptcy and make redundancies. Yes. That is correct. You are being made redundant, so go get your stuff, and we'll sort out the rest."

So after Wade finished getting his stuff, Mr Derek got the rest sorted with a package that gave Wade $2,000 which will be enough for the next 4 weeks until he has to get a proper job again, but that is another kettle of fish to sort out.

As Wade left the office, he went to the nearest toilet block that no one would normally go into, and Pixel teleported him back home where the door remained locked as it was.

Pixel came out from Wade's left ear and looked sad.

Pixel: "I... I am so sorry for what just happened. Were you aware of this?"

Wade: "No. I wasn't aware of that at all, but at least we got a YouTube channel to help replace it."

Pixel was confused.

Wade: "Basically, you watch videos thanks to those content creators, and if you are successful enough, you could get your channel monetized. Well... That's if you don't break the community guidelines, make controversial headlines, or other stuff that could get you cancelled."

Pixel was sceptical, but he did show to pay attention seriously.

Pixel: "I see, so should we find solutions to grow our channel?"

So, for the rest of the day, they came up with good ideas.

Pixel: "... Imagine what the people will see when another player does something interesting that could lead to war in Minecraft."

Wade: "You know, that Minecraft civilization idea sounds like it should..."

But also some really great ideas.

Wade: "... To be fair, I am practising to become an animator with both 2D and 3D animation alongside motion capture."

Pixel: "That's great, but we also have to consider the fact that if Pixel Cat is needed, then we'll have to sort out whatever is happening."

Wade nodded, "I agree with that, so no matter how hard things get in between superhero and YouTuber work, we can do this like partners in justice."

For the next few months, Wade and Pixel has been very busy handling superhero work with gameplay videos of Minecraft and animation videos.

While the superhero duo have stopped plenty of crimes, the other stuff they do in Saltdale involves saving cats on a tree to a lot of the Saltdale citizens who were stuck in a burning building.

While there was little to no crime in Saltdale, Wade and Pixel would make an amazing animation series that currently has 4 episodes that are 10 minutes long per episode, they would make a lot of Minecraft gameplay and civilization videos and even do other games.

This resulted in them getting to their first million subscribers and even keeping their social life in one piece.

One evening, at the city central street area during the afternoon, Wade, with his pal, Pixel inside his brain, was watching the summer parade which featured Pixel Cat arrested a Quadrant soldier.

It was an ordinary day with the duo just enjoying the parade. No one was doing anything bad at all.

After the parade, Wade walked home with Pixel resting in his brain, sleeping. They went past city hall where a lot of people were excited about the upcoming festival of VIGILANTE heroes.

Wade walked past. He only heard the date that the festival would happen, so he got out his tiny but trustworthy A6 notepad and his black felt tip pen and wrote: VIGILANTE heroes festival, 23rd October 2019.

As Wade finished putting his notepad and pen away.

Ka-Boom!

An explosion happened at the city hall, causing Pixel to wake up in his brain and asked, "What happened?"

Pixel went to the sight area where the two friends and allies were shocked at the damage caused to city hall.

Luckily, the mayor had suspiciously survived without a scratch, but what happened next was shocking, even for the duo.

The mayor began running to the nearest VIGILANTE centre, but then he went flying up...

And into an independently detached and magnetic hand controlled by a giant purple robotic head that is a Quadrant interceptor, but that was the mark two variant, with astro tech boosters, and weaponry featuring a giant melee weapons, firearms, lazers, bussaws inside its mouth, and another hand which can help itself with the weaponry stowed on the back of the head.

The Quadrant interceptor laughed evilly before saying in a threatening tone, "Your hero is one of us..."

A tank from below fired at the Quadrant interceptor's head, but the Quadrant interceptor had advanced armour, so it wasn't effective.

The free hand got out a giant pistol loaded with rocket launchers and fired at the tank.

The tank was completely obliterated. None of the three person tank crew survived that!

The Quadrant interceptor turned away, stowed the giant pistol, and the two hands to the back of its head and warped away.

Wade was furious.

Wade: "That thing has got to go..."

Location: Quadrant black site, Washington
D.C., under Union Station.

Date: 10th August 2019

Local time: 9:50 pm

In an abandoned part of the Union Station was deep underground tunnels that lead to the Quadrant black site where in a maze of tunnel powered by a dimensional energy source that not only powers the whole secret black site, but also doesn't increase the power used from official government source, making it undetectable.

Quadrant henchmen had finished with what ever they were doing with a camera recorder and went to another room next door where there was computers, tables and chairs where the henchmen were putting a cable from the camera recorder to the computer.

There were four purple humanoid robots or Quadoids with military and curved screens for eyes working for Quadrant worn illuminated purple vests and purple eyes, and all were armed with FAMAS F1 assault rifles.

The mayor of Saltdale was somehow calm in terms of being captured and presumably tortured for information, as the shadowy figure with cat ears seemed to be fake.

???: "So you were willing to give up sensitive information just to avoid getting tortured, Mr mayor?"

The mayor of Saltdale: "I got to admit, you really outdone yourselves with the largest crime spree you planned for. Even the president mentioned you as if you were heroes."

???: "We are no heroes. We are just simply trying to take over this earth so we can rule this universe as the 23rd universe we take over in the multiverse, out of eleven trillion universes.

We are slowly getting to our paces to after our foundation 50 years ago in Timeline Zero when our founder created Quadrant in the few years after the 100 year football war in a country that lost everything due to war reparations."

The four Quadoids were busy guarding the entrance when Pixel Cat used his sword to knock out three of the four Quadoids offline.

The fourth blocked the sword just in time with the FAMAS F1 assault rifle with one hand.

The Quadoid tried to punch Pixel Cat, but Pixel came out of Pixel Cat's ear, got inside the Quadoid and due to Pixel rushing to get Pixel Cat to save the mayor of Saltdale, he accidentally destroyed the Quadoid's software, killing him.

"Whoops, sorry. :(" Pixel said sheepishly before coming out to reunite with Pixel Cat.

Pixel Cat: "Why did you kill the robot?"

Pixel sighed, "I wasn't being careful because we have a mayor to save."

Pixel Cat then sighed, "Fair enough."

So Pixel Cat made his way through the maze of tunnels in the black site.

As they ran, they came across a split to two different ways, which they didn't even know where to go.

Pixel Cat: "Do you have enough to teleport us to the mayor?"

Pixel: "Unfortunately, if we do, then we won't be able to get the mayor back."

???: "Someone got lost, hey?"

A different cyborg with human limbs and a hollow steel head with a holographic face came by with a map tray hanging from his neck. He also had a purple lanyard that said:

Hi my name is Bob and I am happy to help!

"So you lost your map again, well everyone does every once in a while." Bob said cheerfully before he looked around and saw the worker drone pile.

Pixel Cat and Pixel gulped.

Bob looked shocked.

Bob: "Wow! Those guys really thought that you were the real Pixel Cat. Shame that he'll have his downfall for being a hero."

Pixel Cat and Pixel gulped again.

Was Quadrant setting up a trap for Pixel Cat?

Some hard decisions lie ahead...
