Jimmy didn't know what he was doing here. It was a spontaneous, thoughtless decision, caused by intense curiosity and sudden egoism. He called Yin and said that he would be home late tonight and that he and Una would not wait for him, but would have dinner together and go to bed. Yin couldn't believe his ears: his father often came home late from work, but to be even later than late is something new. Sitting in a crowded room with shouts in mixed Japanese and Thai, and loud music coming from huge speakers, Jimmy wished a hundred times that he had returned home. Now he understood why the next day after corporate parties, the company's employees came to work in the morning as if they had helped Marvel save the universe the night before. Jimmy did not want to be one of them, so he thought after what time it would be possible to refer to family circumstances and return home without offending potential investors.

His gaze darted in Sea's direction. He was sitting opposite at the very beginning of a long table and drinking an unknown amount of sake. His face was completely indifferent, as if he was just slurping water, and showed no signs of intoxication. K'Godji was right: the Japanese surrounded Sea, sitting next to him, changing each other and trying to get Sea drunk, but in the end they got so drunk that they almost fell off their chairs and just guffawed, talking to each other in Japanese, pointing at Sea. Jimmy might not know Japanese, it was easy to guess that they admired Sea's restraint.

Jimmy himself stared blankly at his lonely-looking sake and couldn't bring himself to drink it again. The first attempt to drink sake took place half an hour ago, when they came and got to know each other. Sake was bitter to him, with the taste of mushrooms or corn (he could not identify the taste), a cloudy yellow color, reminiscent of what you see in the toilet - vivid associations did not contribute to Jimmy touching his cup again.

The karaoke room that the Japanese rented was spacious enough to accommodate thirteen people. From their company, besides him, Sea and K'Godji, there also came a man from Purchasing Department, whom Jimmy did not know, but who, as he could guess, also knew how to drink sake - maybe not as well as Sea, but he was certainly better than Jimmy, who could not advance beyond the first cup.

Feeling the vibration of the phone in his pocket, Jimmy looked at the screen turned on and saw messages from Una accusing him of wandering the devil knows where and leaving her alone with his irrepressible son, who, as Una reported, began hunting tigers – running around the house with a toy bow and arrow, imitating screams animals and aborigines instead of sleeping.

Jimmy looked at the time – it wasn't even nine o'clock at night and it was early to sleep even by his standards. He rubbed his temples, trying to focus on his sister's message and ignoring the jumble of Japanese and Thai speech.

Today, Una was in a whiny mood and was annoyed by everything if attention was not drawn to her problems. Yin was rarely interested in her problems, he wanted to play and have fun more, and the huge house was just the place to do it. He often brought friends to the house, and yes, it might have been a little noisy, but not so much that it would bother anyone in a huge house where several families could not cross each other at all. So she just wanted to whine at Jimmy and tell him how bad everyone was and why no one was listening to her, which was not true, because at least three people were listening to her whining: him, Nord and her psychologist. Apparently today was one of those days when she wanted her nephew, who is famous for restlessness and absent-mindedness, to listen to her.

Jimmy wanted to write to her so that she would simply ignore the noise and retire to her office with windows overlooking the garden, where the sounds of the house rarely reached due to its more secluded location, but he received a message from Nord, who wrote that Una demanded that he come to their house and he helped calm Yin down. Nord promised to come up with something to calm Una down. Jimmy was going to write to him that he would be coming home soon, but Nord beat his friend to it, writing that he should not worry about anything and did not leave the corporate party.
